I went to go see Shen Yun Performing Arts. I REALLY enjoyed the performance, it was Amazing and I will go see them again but at a better venue. I think the performance could have been at a better location. Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium needs renovation especially for the amount of the tickets. We bought balcony tickets but learned when we got there there was no elevator. Normally that would not have been a problem but I recently got an injury where i could not do stairs. We weren't the only ones disappointed in that. But the staff seatedus on the floor which was fine except during intermission, some rude lady and her family came and said they purchased the tickets and we were in their seats. We didn't have a problem moving but people were walking. I was just explaining to her smiling saying we will move after people passed and that the staff seated us there and she rudely said that doesn't matter. I didn't argue with her but wanted too. We got up sat on other side where it was empty. Staff came and said we couldn't sit there as the Event wants everyone in the middle. I told the staff what happened and she and other staff stated that online were selling tickets and so was the Auditorium so seating is mixed up. That where we were seated to all the empty rows in the back were to be empty for the balcony people if they wanted them since there were no elevators. There were many others that had the same issue. But it caused frustration among us and others not being aware of purchased seats and having to play musical chairs and the people that came in to claim seats and were rude. But where we moved the second time were better seats for the view anyway. One staff lady complained about the event and how strict the performers were and their rules. I didn't say anything but I felt the Performers had the right to say how things should go accordingly. Then the staff lady said she didn't think the performance was worth the money. I stayed quiet again. But i really wanted to say Lady if you didn't want to work tonight then you shouldn't have come the performance was worth the money however the location for venue was not worth the money and unprofessional she was. Also it was not advertised online that i am aware of purses not being allowed inside and the staff was getting mad yelling loudly to all women approaching no purses allowed and they have to put them back in their cars which was another inconvenience to have to walk all the way back. He asked us where were our purses and we said we have none. He was like good and shaking his head about the other women like its their fault they bought purses. We only knew from when we parked and saw so many going back to their cars to leave their purses. We passed it along to others as much as we could walking up to save them a trip and they were thankful. That should have been communicated better. There was so much frustration and no organization among many. It would have been better at the Greenville Peace Center etc.. but again Great Performance but will not be going to any events at the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium. Maybe it was chosen because it was located next to all the near college like Wofford etc.. but some of the staff need to be trained on professionalism and have organization. Even walking in you could here staff fussing back and forth working parking and I learned from hearing them yell at each other they were mother and daughter. They should know to keep their conversations...
Read moreWent to see Jessie Murph. Show was great. Venue is terrible. When we first got there, there was no parking attendant. Doors open at 6:30. We got there at 2:00. We immediately left, to find a restroom. Came back 2:30, and there was a parking attendant (if you want to call him that) he told us, we could not park in the lower lot. We needed to cross the street and park in the lot across the street. I explained, I had a handicap parking tag. He told me everyone needed to go across the street. He wasn’t too friendly, but I get it. He’s just there to tell people not to park. People are probably rude to him and give him backlash. We joined some others, who had been waiting since 11:30am. Some people arrived at 4:30 and made a new line, so they could enter before those of us who had been waiting. I asked the next worker who arrived, which way the line would be going. She tells me there will be 8 lines. Am attendant comes out at 6, and says everyone needs to make a line on the sidewalk going up the stairs. Minutes later, an attendant comes out saying make two lines at each door. We explain to the attendant we’ve been there all day, in order to enter. He did allow us to enter a few minutes prior to the other lines, (where the people trying to skip the line ran ahead) and got in front of the line. We get in and it is one open pit. It doesn’t matter if you paid $107 or $250. Everyone is in the same spot. People are shoving, elbows to elbows. There are bleachers up top for people to sit. There were a few fights that happened. I think maybe from people being so close together. The energy in the place is terrible. I’ve never been to a concert and felt so much tension. I also think that the tension started before people even being allowed to get in, as employees had no way of which way to line people attending. People who were waiting was told at least four different things, even when calling the box office to find out which way to line up. There were several us, not in the same party who asked and was told different things each time. I think the employees communicating, would make for a...
Read moreAbsolute worst venue I have ever been to at no fault of the artist. There was no clear direction on where should and shouldn't stand. When I asked what line I was in the gentleman was rude and couldn't be bothered to look at my ticket and give me direction, So he sent me to wrong line. Then the artist staff came and told them they would have to change the way the lines were set up for G.A. a bunch of arguments broke out due to people running and cutting others off when asked to for 4 individual lines. At this point I asked a different staff member if I was supposed to be be in G.A. or VIP since I was pretty sure I had purchased vip tickets. She confirmed we needed switch lines and we waited to get it in. Once everyone was let into the venue multiple people passed out and we were stuck standing around for hours stuck in a corner. Most of the college students were rude and thought they were gonna push others around. Unfortunately seems like most of the staff don't like their jobs and it's very clear. Also while trying to leave I tripped over someone else and fell into apparently the no walking section and the guard screamed at me like I threw myself there on purpose. I told him to back off and shut up because I wasn't trying to walk there to begin with. The staff sucks basically is...
