I took my daughter here during school hours on a weekday; my husband dropped us off while visiting a friend in a nearby nursing home. I had checked out this park on maps before & ReallY wanted to like it, but it was the WORST Experience I have had in a park as a mother and we have visited a majority of the parks around NWA over the past few years. The play equipment was in Sorry Disrepair (including a Broken Slide covered with Plywood, Crackes & Rust all over the plastic coating, and a major design flaw leading to Standing Water in the center support that I'm sure is a mosquito breading ground most of the year), there was Trash Everywhere, the bathrooms where horribly gross with unfunctional sinks, but the biggest problem was the disturbing amount of men hanging out everywhere. Some looked like school aged boys on bikes that where skipping school, others looked homeless, some had a gangster vibe going on, and some looked like special needs adults that didn't have anywhere else to get out & walk. I'm not trying to be judgmental here, I'm just saying that I did NOT feel safe being there without a vehicle. Unfortunately, we forgot my daughter's mask so we couldn't even check out the library.... The ducks were cool, but we have a few in our own flock. It was just a big flop for us on that day and time. We wound up hanging out at a table sandwiched between the pond & road just to avoid the peculiar, talkative crowd inhabiting the more spacious areas which wasn't cool because of all the traffic on...
Read moreBeen going around Murphy park of and on for 40 years or better. I've seen it up graded several times in my life. It's always been a great place for all different kinds of things. A good place to take your kids to play on the playground and feed the ducks. Good fishing. A really nice track to walk on for exercising. Clean bathrooms and a large swimming aqatic pool there as well. A really nice library and lots of picnic tables for lunch and a family day out with McDonald's and K F C next door as well. There is even a youth center there as well. Murphy Park has everything you need for the whole family to have a fun day at the park or even just go and get some fresh air alone to relax our mind from a hard week of work at the office. It has wi-fi access and plenty of parking. It even has a transit bus that runs every hour for anyone in need. Murphy Park is defiantly a thumbs up public park. Fun for all. Well kept clean and safe for your children to play and have fun as well. To me , it's as good as it gets for a park that families can spend time together and...
Read moreIt's not a bad park as far as the layout it has nice walking trails and a large pond with fountains. It is next to the Springdale library and a convenience store is real close by. It would be better if it weren't for the abundance of homeless drug addicts that always hang around there. And the cigarette butts and trash everywhere. And I have seen empty beer cans and needles. The homeless people literally sleep on the sidewalk right outside the door of the library and inside. They also sleep on the ground in the park and on the sidewalk outside of the restrooms. The city really should do something about it.There are families with small children that play there that don't need to be subjected to this kind of element. The last time I was there there were cops walking around looking for a guy who stabbed someone. And there was a group of homeless people under the pavilion screaming at each other some of them were either drunk or high or both with kids playing close by. One of them started screaming and cursing at non homeless people...
