Edit: Finally posted a few pics. Since this is my favorite place now, I’ll tell you that I like to see Lena for awesome nail art/GelX, Johnny for my pedicures, and my daughter recently saw Selena for her nail art/builder gel. Staff have consistent quality of work, and outstanding customer service.
Original review: Staff are patient with good communication skills, have quality care, great nail art (they take their time/not rushed), and are very welcoming. I’m a runner, I have horrible old calluses and active healing blisters. Hands down best pedicure ever. It was like a podiatrist and masseuse combined. He got out the hot stones and foot wraps and everything (I asked for the pedicure with green tea I think). And the price was great for what service was provided. This guy who did my feet was somewhat difficult to understand but he made sure there was no confusion with what I wanted and went above and beyond with the massage (that’s what it felt like anyway because I wasn’t used to a full blown foot spa). Then I had another guy do my hand builder gel and cat eye gel polish. He gently removed my previous builder gel and shaped my nails perfectly (I am picky with the shape, and I appreciated how he asked for my opinion because I was able to comfortably give him feedback on what changes I wanted made to the shape). It was past closing time and he had to go pick up his car from the dealership so another girl finished my cat eye gel paint and did fantastic (love how he communicated why he had to leave early and had someone else finish my nails because I don’t like when other people finish my nails and not tell me why the technicians changed). My two daughters ages 10 and 12 joined me; one got a pedi with gel and lemon designs and the other got builder gel mani with French tip and cat designs. Nail art was lit. One last note: So I was 5 min late and we took a long time picking colors (go early, don’t be like me) but they were patient with us. When the guy started painting my toes I changed my mind and he brought over more colors for me to pick from and was very nice the entire time, didn’t seem bothered or rushed at all (even though I was definitely acting high maintenance… sorry guys!) AND the same thing happened with my hands (I am indecisive) so the girl had to wipe off my gel and start over when I changed my mind on the color. Overall great experience. I will likely make an appt for a 2-3 week follow-up. New...
Read moreI decided to try this nail salon after seeing the amazing 5-star reviews and photos of other people’s nails. When I arrived, the woman who greeted me (possibly the manager/owner) was very kind and welcoming, which made me feel comfortable at first. Unfortunately, my experience with the nail tech was very disappointing and even unsafe.
The nail tech seemed uninterested from the start, though she did offer me a drink and made sure I was seated comfortably. Things quickly went downhill when she began using the drill and file. She was extremely rough and careless, repeatedly using the drill so close to my skin that I could feel the heat. When she switched to filing, she shoved the file into the sides of my fingers so aggressively that she cut me—not once, but twice. After the first cut, she gave a quick “sorry” and continued. The second time, she didn’t even acknowledge it. Where I had been cut was bleeding, so I knew she was aware of the fact that I had been cut fairly deep.
To make matters worse, when smoothing my nails with the drill, she held it in one spot long enough to generate heat, which felt like it was burning my nail. This happened multiple times, making the service very uncomfortable. I almost just decided to get up and walk out considering my fingers were throbbing at this point, but I decided to try and give it the benefit of the doubt.
When I checked out, I showed who I believe was the manager my fingers and explained what had happened. She only said “so sorry that happened,” touched where I was cut, and handed me a $5 gift card. While I appreciated the gesture, it does not make up for being injured multiple times during a service.
This is not just poor customer service—it’s a safety concern. Cutting clients and burning nails with the drill should never happen. I can understand a nick or small mistake, but multiple cuts/burning nails, is unacceptable. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning and cannot recommend this salon based on...
Read moreI rarely post a review of nail establishments after one visit and especially before a pedicure, in this case—I believe an exception was earned. — I believe that I have found a new nail home for myself, thanks to both the artist that worked with me, Ryck & and the overall experience start to finish.
I called ahead of time to inquire about working with someone who does shape work well, I was not disappointed. I also specifically asked about being gender nonbinary and the manager (the name escapes me), I believe, assured me that I’d be welcomed. He answered my questions over the phone and was candid about needing more context (I.e., nail length, inspiration photo) to better estimate the price.
All in all, I’m pretty sure I’ll be back from here forward.
Pros:
LOCALLY OWNED
*The establishment was clean.
*I was seated & started within 10-minutes of my appointment time (if you’ve been asked to wait 30-minutes you KNOW how awesome this is).
*Check-ins and confirmation of plans.
*Clear communication (important to me).
*Seems to be LGBTQ+/POC community conscious (I felt safe & welcomed).
*Somewhat of a communal vibes.
Cons:
*I don’t have any cons to report at this time; will update accordingly.
Thoughts:
*For the socially reserved, seating is kinda close and there is social encouragement (not forced though).
Return?
Oh absolutely, I’ve not been this impressed by a shop or artist off one visit in a minute.
10/10
P.S. To the mom who I met there—who spoke life into me, if you ever see this… THANK YOU, I needed to hear that more than you...
