Penna's of Sterling — Attraction in Sterling Heights

My experience overall was great, the staff worked with us every step of the way. They even let us keep our date without a deposit, which I found to be very odd. Unfortunately the wedding was cancelled months before the date. No one called to inform us to put a deposit down and lock in the date. So I receive a call one month before from Connie for the wedding for a cake tasting, I was thrown back by that because again there was no deposit. But anywho the consultant they had was very rude to me about why the wedding was cancelled and how no one informed them, it is not our duty to inform you when there was no deposit. Many actually all banquet halls only hold a date for 2 weeks without a deposit. So, she was very upset and said no one called them and why the wedding was cancelled. To me that was a little too forward and non of her business, all she needed to know that it was cancelled, then she went on asking me what happened? I was speechless! I felt that my privacy was being invaded not only that, that it was very unprofessional of her to ask such a question, she seemed so disappointed and told me oh ok well I have to tell Tony now. Very condescending. I love the hall, the foods amazing, Tony is great to work with, but the consultant not so much. Never experienced such disrespect and racism all in the same night! At a family members wedding I got told that I need to get off the table because it was over the ‘allowed’ number of people at one table? Then I had the ‘manager’ approach me and ask me over and over again which ‘village’ I am from! I was at a middle eastern wedding but when I mentioned that I was born and raised in Michigan she failed to understand that I am not a foreigner because she kept repeating the same question ‘what village are you from’ then when I asked to speak to the owner the owner came out she was very dismissive and thought it was okay for one of her employees to one tell me I have to move and second what ‘village’ I am from and kept saying ‘I’m Italian, people ask me what village I am from all the time’ then kept it short and said she had to go back to the kitchen. MARY LOU&GEORGE ARE THE BEST! My fiancé and I booked another hall a year ago. We were displeased with our experience. We initially met with George at Villa Penna and he was so amazing we decided to go to Penna’s of Sterling due to our count. We were transparent with our situation and Mary Lou was incredibly understanding, patient, professional and personable. She answered all of our questions and truly made us feel like we were friends or family. She did not apply any pressure and because of our experience with both George&Mary Lou we toured, viewed packages and signed our contract the same day.
