Kayak Kings of Key West — Attraction in Stock Island

We had a wonderful day exploring the Mangroves in Key West. We are a family of 4 with 2 children ages 7 and 8. We decided to chose Kayak Kings on the basis of great reviews online and its proximity to our hotel which was on Stock Island. We arrived around 15 minutes before our departure time and were greeted by friendly staff who set us up with life jackets for kids. We decided to use double kayaks given the younger kids. Our guide Phil was excellent! We were new to kayaking and he was patient and great with the kids even with their endless questions. He had great eyes and spotted many things that we would have definitely missed. He was knowledgeable about the habitat and shared interesting facts about all the wildlife. The kids enjoyed interacting with some of the wildlife. We even saw a big group of nurse sharks. The mangrove maze was fun and provided some needed shade on a hot day. We had a group in the Keys during Thanksgiving and had a delightful experience. I wasn't sure if anywhere would have availability and we were so thankful they had available rentals and tours. The rates were affordable and very worth the experience. It was so gorgeous to be on the ocean and in the mangroves. There was a good balance of solo time to look around and guided time with the staff guide. He was very knowledgeable and friendly, answered questions, approachable, and welcoming. Back home we kayak on small rivers a few times a year and I was worried about my ability to keep up in quicker waterways. The staff helped answer questions and I felt comfortable with not being an avid kayaker. There was one point that was a faster pace across a more open waterway, and then the majority of the time in the mangroves. Our group really enjoyed the experience and we would all come back again. We loved it! It was 3 of us unexperienced kayakers and we had a blast. I was tryin to book something at the last moment and everything was full. On the website of Kayak Kings it appeared there was no availability but when I called at 9am they set us up for noon of the same day!. We were extremely lucky because not only they are cheaper than other outfitters but also no one else was booked at that time and we ended up having the guide Phill all for our selves. He was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the ecosystem of the mangroves. He learned our names right away answered all our questions, and patiently assisted us navigating the mangroves.
