Taco Express — Restaurant in Stock Island

The food is pretty good and seems very fresh, portions are quite big especially for the very reasonable prices. However there are times it is not as good seemingly the end of the batch, not as fresh, somewhat cold and thrown together. That being said I have obviously eaten there many times because it is usually very good, big portions and decent prices. The tacos are a pretty good choice especially the El Pastor, Mexican style. I do not care for the Tortas found them dry and skimpy on the meat. The pork chop plate is good for a food truck. Breakfast and coffee is great and again a decent price. The service is kind of hit or miss particularly if you're not Spanish, it's unfortunate but not out of ordinary for Key West or any Spanish run establishment generally if you're white and they think you don't understand what they're saying. Sometimes the service is quick and there are times it takes quite awhile and doesn't seem to be relevant to the number of people waiting. The workers of this truck STOLE MY FRIEND’S WALLET. He left it on a bench at the patio, so we called and asked if they’d found a wallet. Their response? They immediately hung up. We called back to ask again - and they hung up AGAIN. So we drove back to the truck to ask them in person, then they claimed they had no wallet. When we didn’t give up, they somehow remembered that they HAD found my ID (but not the wallet, of course!). They really wanted to keep this wallet, clearly. He had to jump up (to be able to see) and POINT at HIS wallet and say “That is literally my wallet”. Workers were clearly speaking Spanish to avoid being understood while discussing the wallet (which they had in their possession the entire time). They finally reluctantly relinquished it when given no other option. They are lucky we don’t report this incident to the police - and I demand accountability from management for...
