Read moreReason why I gave this review: When we got here, we weren’t sure if it was a self-seating place until we saw the sign. However, I met the gazes of two servers and they just stared at us which I did not like. The atmosphere did not feel welcoming, but a good point is that it’s seated outside next to a small dock so it was nice to look at the small boats and the view. Service was not that good. We sat down, he gave us menus, asked for what we would like to drink and we said water. Next time he came around he asked again if we want to drink anything and if we’re ready to order. I said that we are, but we would like the water to drink that we asked for. We also asked if they had key lime pie, he said he isn’t sure so he’s going to ask, but never got back to us if they still have some or not. It wasn’t that busy, so I was surprised he forgot those things. The food was not good, which was a let down since we were looking forward to eating here. We ordered one of the burgers with fries and a side of onion rings, and the lightly battered shrimp with plantains. The fries wasn’t seasoned (like no salt or even pepper on it), the burger felt like it was missing something taste wise, the lightly battered shrimp I did not think it was “lightly” battered, and the cocktail sauce didn’t have any horseradish to it. So overall, for us it did not hit the spot after...
Read moreWe were looking for an off the main tourist path type of place to eat, and the Hurricane was perfect! It was just down from our hotel, right off the main road into Key West.
It was a very fun bar/restaurant type place with plenty of parking and plenty of tables. Being right on the water and with docks and boats, there was plenty to look at and enjoy.
They had a big full menu but you order your drinks and food up at the bar counter initially. After that, they brought the food out to you directly.
We had 6 of us and every single plate was a large portion from the large pasta bowl, big burgers, and my thick chicken quesadilla (appetizer that was my full meal). Everyone said their food was great.
I decided to try the 6 layer carrot cake, but I honestly wasn't expecting much. Oh my was I surprised. It was not only a large portion but also absolutely delicious! If I lived near here, I'd hang out at this place often and eat plenty of carrot cake as well!
To wrap this up, I highy recommend it for the food and drink along with the dock side view. It is a very casual, come as you are place, and for us,...
