Me and my grandmother Joyce Maize went to the martin county fair's OFFICE before the fair had gotten to town to buy tickets. The woman behind the desk was very thorough and detailed and narrowed it all down about days , discounts , prices etc . She explained and explained while we stood there and listened. we thought wow she did a great job narrowing it all down and nothing can go wrong and we thought we were VERY CLEAR on EVERYTHING in order to enjoy our night at the martin county fair especially since we kept repeating to her the REAL question that drove us into the office in the FIRST place which was how will 2 year olds ride the rides , I remember back in the day all the parent had to do was show their wristband and then the 2 year old will be let on the ride . She explained that that rule has NOT changed . I asked her again she stated the same answer and we were VERY VERY CLEAR on how my 2 year old will ride once we left her office that day . Remember thats the main question that we were pondering. We thought she would not mislead us since she was so thorough and seemed to know alot about the fair and was kind. WRONG. When we got to the fair and my 2 year old picked out his 1st ride. I showed my wristband and the ride operator told me my 2 year also needed his own wristband !!! I was livid!!! He could not ride .So I basically paid for a wristband I didn't need because no person my age is getting on any ride . I didn't need the wristband I don't ride the rides plus these were baby rides a parent was not needed. the 2 year old was the only rider so I felt like only HE needed the wristband .I asked the operator to please get the manager because he was not backing down or trying to hear me out about what I was told and led on to believe by the woman behind the desk. I was specifically told only the parent needs a wristband in order for baby to ride . I mean a wristband could fall off of a 2 year olds arms anyways so what she said was believeable in the office that day. In my mind while im speaking with the operator trying not to lose my cool with smoke coming from my ears asked myself what sense did this even make for a 2 year old to have their own wristband it would not even be secured properly all night. Makes more sense for the parent to have it to show for the child .anywhoo remember it's the FIRST opening night of the fair JAM PACKED with people and the crowd was way too thick to try and walk ALL the way to that OFFICE to find the woman i spoke with days BEFORE to rectify this situation and I didn't feel like arguing . But this ruined our whole night because i was so mad that i was told a lie I actually LEFT and didn't stay to enjoy the fair . I was very hurt that someone would lie to me about something so CRITICAL. Because the fair wasn't for me it was all for my little baby to enjoy. Oh and to add the CHERRY on top most of the rides for the babies were out of order and there were only like 2 working rides for babies his age. So I guess even if he DID have his OWN wristband he STILL would not have enjoyed any rides . I've always enjoyed the martin county fair but it seemed like one big joke this year someone's money hungry or just stopped caring . this was all a lie to make me buy two wristbands . I might have bought two wristbands if I'd known I would need them but how can I when I was told a lie from the beginning . Worst night of my life . Either be truthful or find out up to date facts before telling customers who support your fair...
Read moreI have not been to the fair in a while. But I wanted to make it a fun event for my Family like my mom did when I was younger. Went this year thought it was very sad how now it’s $10 to get in per person plus if you want go on rides the wristbands for 30 and then there’s a two dollar activation fee haha that’s just getting ridiculous. So anybody with a family it’s hard to go out and enjoy the night it’s very sad how Martin county is becoming less of a family orientated place. Martin County needs to do better. And you already know the food fair is going to cost money and the extra games but now to charge a two dollar activation fee on the wristband And always thought it was $10 Or you could pay $30 which included the $10 to get in for the wristband for a family of five who can afford to do this with their kids. But really it’s just the principal a two dollar activation fee on a bracelet. I just...
Read moreThe welcome crew ladies behind the ticket entry Saturday the 15th were so nice to start with while taking our tickets. Our grandsons love this clean county fair filled with soap areas and a bathroom attendant. Every year we have been its growing with more shows and events. The 4H petting area was so well maintained with loving pet owners proud of their babies. The robot battles were amazing! The kids were mesmerized watching and guessing what bot was going to win. The Lego races that kids could build and watch their cars win or lose was also a hit. Never could find the curious george show and ppl working there didn't know either but the boys soon forgot when they zeroed in on the rides and games. Our grandsons serenaded everyone non stop as we were leaving with the noise making bugles they won at the duck pond and continued till they broke or so their parents said they broke....lol. Great time...
