Giving a 3 only because my first appt was exciting as I decided to shave the back of my head and get a new hair cut. I showed him many pictures with pretty much the same type of layering, as my hair had no layers. I showed him a few designs I liked that I wanted shaved into the back of my head. He did a design that excited me thought looked great. Then I got home and everyone was pointing out how the lines weren't straight and it wasn't centered. I can understand it not being perfect. I mean it's hair, you can't make it all perfect. Yet when people see it the first thing they ask is what is it suppose to be, why didn't you want it centered.... Kind of embarrassing. The new style I wanted and wanted a big noticeable change with keeping as much length as possible in which every picture I showed him, they were all very noticably different than what I had. Nobody including myself could tell that I had a haircut. When I fix it, there's nothing different either. I still made another appointment for a dye. Again wanting a dramatic change. I signed the contract and have my $50. I myself being in customer service owning my own biz that every hr matters and cancelling means money out of your pocket. I also understand that life happens and I'm not going to hold that against people as long as they reschedule with me asap. I had the stomach bug that's been going around for about a week. My family had been secretly planning a surprise for me in which the stomach bug had ruined so they made it for the day after my birthday. This happened to be the same day I had my hair appointment. My surprise was given up by my son who forgot it was a surprise and I called to reschedule my appointment as soon as I found out. Yet was told that he was keeping the deposit and scheduling out further than 2 weeks because of this reason and told I had to keep my appointment. I explained I had no option that it wasn't my choice nor my fault that I shouldn't be punished for. I was told to keep my appointment or lose my deposit and schedule over 2 weeks. This is after I had a hair cut with tip came to over 100 then 50 deposit. So he's keeping 50 over getting 400+. Idk how that makes sense. I know I would rather reschedule and keep a customer plus the money that is coming from rescheduling over losing my customer and getting 50. Not going back to him. He didn't conversate at all and when we tried he told us to stop talking he needed silence. Yet I still have a really good tip, talking about a 40%. He could have made so much more money from me. I have 6 kids that I would have brought to him plus recommending family...
Read moreI am personally very picky with my hair and very uncomfortable going to hair salons.
I got my hair cut by Clara and Im very happy with it. They understood that I was very picky about how my hair looks and they were very patient with my requests. They were very nice to talk to, and very gentle as they worked. In my personal experience getting a razor cut; its like getting chunks of hair ripped from your head. THis wasnt like that. Clara was very detail oriented as well, making sure everything was very perfect and even, especially on a spikey mohawk! The salon itself was very quiet and calm when i came in around 2pm on a Thursday. The service was very quick too, just under an hour for a long cut. They also assured me that if I need anything changed within the week, they can guarantee a quick touch up, which I thought was very sweet. If youre picky about your hair, looking for a more alternative and weird hairstyle, overwhelmed by a packed salon and the smell of hair product, or in general not a big fan of getting your hair cut like i am; I highly reccomend this salon.
Additionally; I was helped very kindly with all my questions about the online booking process. Suite A is for longer hair and complex styles, suite b is a barbershop more for fades and buzz cuts. My haircut was around 50$, more than affordable. And when I requested no product be used on my hair that...
Read moreAbsolutely 💯 my favorite queer punk stylists ever. Stop searching and make an appointment with then now. Ani is my stylist and I won't go to anyone else ever again. They are the absolute best!
I had the same Seattle stylist 5 years and when I moved out across the bridge last year it was terrified because it meant that I'd have to find another stylist. A friend of mine recommended Supernova Salon as a great queer shop to support and I was not disappointed.
The shop is fantastic, eclectic beautiful artwork on the walls (some by the stylists!), a riot of color and passion for all sorts of communities that need support. Their COVID protocols are tight (thank you!), and their stylists know their stuff!!
I found the perfect fit for me with Ani - I love the chill and grounded vibes they bring to the chair and I've done three very different styles with them going from super long to super short. They hit the mark EVERY TIME. I always get tons of compliments on the cuts from all different kinds of folks.
I've also gotten the opportunity to sit and watch/listen/see multiple other artists at work. And they are artists- varying areas of expertise, great with clients, super personable and helpful, efficient while being detailed oriented and not stopping until it's just right, and look to be exceptional with the bright...
