This past week, my daughter and I visited Tahoe City, and we are from Texas!

We came to the Dam Cafe to grab some breakfast, since we read some good reviews for the most part.

Well, we both had a breakfast sandwich with coffee, and it was SO good!!! We enjoyed it so much that we went back the next two days of our stay, and got breakfast, lunch, and a Blueberry Granola smoothie to snack on later in the day, since they close at 1pm.

Lucia and Pamela do an excellent job running this place and kitchen! They are so friendly and kind! I came across some reviews that complained about how long it took for their order or the size/amount of food items, and these are my thoughts about those kind of comments:

I think some of these negative reviews were written intentionally to discourage people from going there.

They make your food when you order, and if you happen to go in a busier time of the day, there's a chance you might wait about 15 minutes, or maybe a bit longer, but trust me, it's worth the wait!

Food items we ordered and loved are: breakfast sandwich with avocado, breakfast burritos, lattes, iced coffee, smoothies and coffee muffin. Everything...

My friend wanted to stop here for breakfast, he said it's been one of his favorite spots for years. Very unfriendly service, they ignored us for 5 minutes and we were the only people in line. 24 bucks for 2 breakfast burritos(small) and a coffee. He was embarrassed for taking us there, said he would never go back again.

Edit: In order to not be accused of being a judgmental, oppressive, aggressive, and abusive reviewer, I would like to retract my statement of "very unfriendly service" and instead say that I felt unwelcome and ignored. I'm not so unreasonable as to not be sympathetic to the difficulties of running a business during a global pandemic and the challenges it presents. How am I to know we are waiting in line behind "Virtual" orders if no one tells us that is the situation? I would have felt entirely different if that was the case and mentioned to us. I do not think the Cafe has unethical or unreasonable prices, I just stated what we ordered and the cost. I did give my opinion in the review that it was smaller than I expected. I wish your Cafe the best of luck in the future and appreciate small businesses in the Tahoe area, I will continue to...

This is my go-to spot because the food is carefully prepared while I wait. No sandwich or burrito is ever pre-made and sitting there - it's always fresh. The ingredients are delicious and aren't simply selected for pricing reasons. The service is always wonderful. Multi-lingual, even with the French I saw there the other day. Ask for the Frootie-Tootie smoothie....with spinach. It's simply the best smoothie I've ever had. It's good for you too! Four servings of fruit and one serving of vegetables. How can you go wrong? The pricing is standard for resort towns. Don't expect to walk out without dropping a few bucks but with the food and delicious ingredients, and the fantastic service... and all the things that make it expensive to live and play in a resort town...it's standard pricing. If you want to pay less (for anything in and around Lake Tahoe), don't vacation here. Go to "Fresno" or someplace that's not a resort town. No one wants to hear you complain at this quaint cafe ...and especially before you even get the scrumptious...

Very cute cafe in a great location. But the prices and serving size of breakfast leaves very much to be desired……Got a breakfast burrito with avocado added on extra, a breakfast sandwich, hot tea (so pretty much hot water and a 50 cent tea packet) and an iced mocha and somehow it comes out to $45 absolutely blows my mind. I burrito I ate in like 7 bites…. When I go to a breakfast place I expect to not be hungry after buying something but that burrito was the smallest most expensive burrito I ever purchased…Very disappointing, that they have no prices on any food items. Food was good but just not worth the price at all. If you love cute little cafes this is it! But be warned it will cost and arm and leg. Great place but really needs to work on the prices. Literally took to small bites out of my burrito in the picture and you can see how small it is. Normally not one to leave a bad review but I was extremely disappointed

What a great experience! The second you walk into the cafe, you are greeted with the home-y atmosphere, the smells of deliciousness and the friendliest people ever!! I ordered salmon cream cheese bagel and .. omg! Yum!! Everything is so fresh! It tastes AMAZING too! The portion is great to share but I had it all to myself. My husband got a bacon egg and cheese with an avocado and he loved it too! Chai latte was also out of this world fantastic.. but what makes this place the hit and the place to not miss in Tahoe City is the people! The owners are the friendliest people and have a smile on their face all the time. What a great experience! What a great way to start the day! We will be back!!!
