I’ve done 4 different B&M Inverts: Kraken, Dueling Dragons, Dominator, and finally this one.
Of those four, I think Montu is the one I’d mourn if ever removed.
I’ve never had so much fun on a B&M, and the German manufacturer was at the top of their game when they built this!
Besides the usual first gentle drop, the inversions, and all that rigamole typical to most mid-high tier coasters, I’ve also noticed that it actually seems to pick up a bit of speed on the apex of each inversion, and takes the turns and corkscrews very fast, leading to whippy inversions and snap turns. It’s a lot of fun, just make sure to keep your head pressed against the headrest at all times!
Speaking of headrest, they actually have padding placed over them, which provided nice support for your head and neck. It’s always nice when the park or manufacturer thinks about the comfort of their riders!
It’s also pretty cool that you can see Montu climb behind you while waiting in the queue. Busch Gardens seems to do this with a lot of their rides, and seeing and hearing the coaster and riders zoom by helps build anticipation for your turn!
Finally, Montu is named after the eagle-headed Egyptian god of war, which I think is one of the most badass named ever given to a coaster, while the blue track and yellow supports are colors worthy of royalty.
Montu has been here for at least 20 years. I hope it continue to run so well for the next 20 as well.
Note: wait time varies between no wait, to 10-15 min...
Read moreWhen you first see this ride it looks so scary. My friends said it's about as scary as Falcons Furry but I can't say because I haven't been on Falcons Furry yet. This ride turns you upside down a lot! I personally love it when it does this. If you have flip flops or sandles you fell like will fall off your able to take them off and ride bare footed. This is a great feeling and your feet don't even hurt. The ride is about 15-30 seconds long, which is long for a coaster ride. The seating is 4 people per row and I think there like 8 rows. The line moves quickly sometimes but don't trust the wait time because when I went it was a 30min wait when it was sopose to be 5min but the wait was worth it. Once I got off the ride I was left wanting to go again and again. It's also a really fun ride bec you can hear peoples screams while on the ride. I would say this ride is one of my favorites right next to Shikra. I sat in the back row which was really fun and had a short wait compared to the first row. I hope you enjoy this roller coaster as...
Read moreThe first time I rode Montu, I didn't see a thing. I was a terrified kid who had been tricked into line, and I kept my eyes clamped shut for the entire ride, feeling the twists and turns as a chaotic blur. When the brake run hit, all I knew was that I had, against all odds, survived. Ever since surviving that first ride, everything is different. Now, I always keep my eyes wide open. That climb isn't about fear anymore; it’s about anticipating the incredible, scenic view of my whole city. As we dive, I feel the wind on my face and ride every inversion with my heart full of adrenaline, thinking to myself how absolutely free I am. For those two minutes, I am truly flying through the Tampa sky in the sun, doing what people 100 years ago could only dream of. It’s the one perfect place where you can be screaming your head off from pure fun without a single person thinking you’re crazy. Montu took my childhood fear and transformed it into the most profound sense of freedom I've ever known. It’s not just a ride; it’s an absolute...
