Tampa Bay Fun Boat — Attraction in Tampa

First of all, the price is more than reasonable. The sunset views were breathtaking, the length of the cruise was excellent and mostly Captain Darryl and his first mate, Don were awesome! Darryl and Don were knowledgeable, polite, and very accommodating, unlike Shannon in customer service.

Shannon was unbelievably rude and nasty!! We were here from Arizona and the cruise came highly recommended. The person that recommended the cruise clearly had no dealings with Shannon.

I admit that we were late, which was not her fault. As stated above, the cruise was highly recommended. We were here from Arizona. We did not know our way around town and it was also a holiday weekend. We tried very hard to be there “20 minutes early” but things happen sometimes.

We called customer service and unfortunately spoke to Shannon. She was so rude, arrogant and condescending. She kept repeating over and over again how we were supposed to be there 20 minutes early. We understood that, but only wanted to know if we could get seats on the next boat.

She rudely said no, unless we paid for it and once again reminded me that we were late. She did, however, try to explain to me that we could see if there were seats left on the boat “after the paying customers” had a space, as if we were not paying customers.

I could go on and on about Shannon’s bad attitude and terrible customer service, but long story short, Shannon, it’s not what you were saying, it was your delivery. You did not need to be so nasty. You could have explained yourself without sighing, saying “look”, and speaking in a rude way.

If it were not for Darryl and Don’s pleasant disposition and wonderful cruise service, I would never take this cruise again or recommend it to anyone. I read a few reviews and you mentioned people being rude to you, well I was not rude to you. You were impatient unnecessarily. You are customer service. Try being nicer, then again, customer service is not...

How do you give negative stars? Let me tell you about Shannon. My friends and I are visiting from VA, we booked a sunset cruise after speaking with the Captain Lee while walking along the river walk. What a nice guy!! He was very encouraging and helpful and that sold us on booking. After going through the process, we were sent a text with our waivers, filled them out and we’re good to go. Our friends however, could not open the link to do the waivers so I called to see if company could send the link to my phone to help my friends get their waivers filled out so their booking would not be cancelled. When I called, Shannon answered and immediately was annoyed that we had an issue. Her response to my friends not being about to get their waiver link opened was “well no one else had called or has had an issue, I don’t know why they would have an issue!” I asked if she could send the link to me to help, she was annoyed about that. After being made to feel like an inconvenience for the entire conversation I finally asked her if she could not be rude to me. She immediately got defensive and threatened to cancel my reservation. I asked her to not and that we would get the additional waiver filled out and be good to go. After she hung up the phone on me while I was explaining that we didn’t want our reservation cancelled, I received an email that my reservation had in fact been cancelled. I have never in my life have dealt with a business owner who didn’t want business. I would never recommend this place and would tell anyone who asked to avoid dealing with Shannon. I’m sorry to not be able to support Captain Lee but it’s just not worth it. Please don’t take my word for it, please see multiple reviews from others who have had the same awful and unprofessional experience...

Being born & raised in Tampa, I typically do not seek out or go on any "tourist-type" boat cruises as I have been out on the water & in the bay practically my whole life. My cousins were visiting from New York though and I wanted to end their trip with something a little special/different when I came across Tampa Bay Fun Boat's Sunset Cruise. I cannot recommend them enough! The price is inexpensive, you're on the boat for a full hour & a half, & you can pack a cooler with your own drinks & snacks.. which in my opinion is better than a bar on the boat because it guarantees that everyone in your party will have exactly what they prefer to drink (and is way cheaper than paying for every single drink or having to wait in line!) Along the channel, the captain points out several houses (i.e. Derek Jeter's house that Tom Brady rented, Vinny Lecavalier's house, etc) as well as interesting Tampa history (how Davis Island was made, how much Harbour Island cost to purchase, etc). Fun music was played all throughout and of course the Tampa sunset did not disappoint. All in all, this boat cruise was more "simple" than others I have been on in other cities, but that's what made it so great... a boat with enough seating for everyone, a bathroom, music, & a really great time. It is a perfect way to either start or end your evening whether you have date night planned, girl's night, or guests from out-of-town. I will definitely return for another...
