My stay at the Hilton Tampa Downtown was overall decent, with some positives and a few areas that could use improvement.
First, the location is a definite highlight. The hotel is situated in the heart of downtown Tampa, making it convenient for both business and leisure travelers. It’s within walking distance of several restaurants, bars, and entertainment options, which made exploring the city easy. The Riverwalk is nearby, and it’s a great place for a morning or evening stroll. If you’re in town for an event at the convention center or Amalie Arena, it’s just a short drive or even a walk away, depending on your preference.
The service at the hotel was consistently good. The front desk staff was welcoming, efficient, and quick to check me in. They provided helpful recommendations for dining and attractions, which I appreciated. Housekeeping did a fine job keeping the room tidy and well-stocked with towels and toiletries. Room service was prompt, and the restaurant staff was friendly, though service at the on-site dining spot was occasionally a bit slow, especially during peak times. That said, everyone was professional and accommodating, which added to the overall positive experience.
As for the room itself, I’d say it was just okay. It was clean and functional, but for a Hilton in a downtown setting, I expected a little more in terms of design and comfort. The bed was comfortable enough for a good night’s sleep, but the furnishings and decor felt a bit dated and uninspired. The bathroom was fine, though a bit on the smaller side, and while the water pressure in the shower was good, the temperature fluctuated slightly at times. The lighting in the room could also have been better, as it felt a little dim in the evenings.
One area that could definitely be improved is the parking situation. Valet parking is available, but it’s quite pricey, and self-parking options are limited. If you’re planning to drive and stay here, be prepared for the additional cost.
The hotel amenities were decent, with the rooftop pool being a nice feature. It’s a good spot to relax, but it can get a bit crowded, especially in the afternoons. The fitness center was well-equipped and clean, which was a plus. The lobby area was well-maintained, providing a nice place to sit and relax.
Overall, I’d rate my experience around 3.85 stars. The location and service were great, but the rooms didn’t quite meet my expectations, and the parking cost was a bit steep. Would I stay here again? Possibly, but I might explore other options first to see if there’s a hotel with a bit more value for the price. However, for convenience and friendly service, the Hilton Tampa Downtown is still a...
Read moreI don’t normally post reviews but this bad stay definitely warranted one. This hotel is in a very good spot and convenient to the convention center and other places. However, we had multiple issues with our stay. At arrival, the front desk staff was not friendly at all. I asked about paying for our first night on my boyfriends card since our second night was being paid by my company and I needed to pay for it separately on my credit card. This gentleman gave me a lot of arrogant attitude and said it cannot be done. I asked to speak to manager and he directed me down the counter to manager on duty. The manager said he was definitely able to accommodate that request. He then realized that we were put in the wrong room. I initially reserved a king room because my boyfriend is 6’3 and can’t fit into any bed smaller than a king. When we arrived, we had been put in a double room and the beds are smaller. And so the manager had to place us in a handicap King room since the hotel was so booked and no other king rooms available. Our room was very substandard. It was right next to elevator and VERY LOUD, no hair dryer (we had to call for one and they took so long to bring it that I didn’t even get to use it), bed was VERY uncomfortable, the shower was so clogged we were standing in ankle high water every shower and the water smelled like someone farting, the door for the cabinet with the mini fridge was broken and kept swinging open. And last but definitely not least, we had a housekeeper enter our room without knocking nor did she announce herself and just clicked the room key and opened the door. We had a DO NOT DISTURB sign hanging on the door but she still walked right in. Luckily the safety latch was on but she was still able to open the door a few inches and see in the room. When she opened the door, she made eye contact with my boyfriend standing directly in her view and we were both naked. Which is very uncalled for and honestly made us very leery leaving our stuff there. Luckily there was a safe to store our valuables in. But we wondered who else was coming in and possibly going through our things if the housekeepers just walk right in at their leisure. I immediately called to the front desk manager and housekeeping manager to complain. We were compensated for our issues but many of these issues are definitely not good. And we weren’t given any of the Hilton Honors Member perks we have previously been given at other Hilton hotels when we stay. Needless to say we were not happy with our stay at all. And I feel like none of these issues will be addressed because not many of the staff, especially the front desk staff, seemed very interested in...
Read moreThere so many other hotels you can find with a more polite front desk staff and overall experience. During Sept 8-10, staff was unprofessional, management was dismissive and I was stuck in a hotel that I didn't feel comfortable. After a long flight I went down to purchase a beverage and since I could not complete self checkout for the item I headed to the front desk for assistance as the kiosk told me too. Of course as I walking over 4 or 5 people are standing in the area front desk socializing. I feel that I was interrupting by the way I was greeted. Not hello, how are you, or welcome. I was greeted by a young man speaking lowly and under his voice. "Is that it", with a hint of an aggressive tone mentioning the item I was purchasing. I said yes and asked to pay with cash to where he responded again low and like he didn't want to speak that the establishment was cashless. Fine. After having this uncomfortable back and forth I ask for a receipt and since the young man seemed very upset to help me and answer my questions and like he would rather be anywhere else but assisting me, I took my receipt without him handing it to me and this made him angry. He aggressively asked me why I took it and then proceeded to walk off to another area. His manager was standing right there and said nothing to him but instead asked me what's wrong with him. The manager did not offer to speak to me right then and there even though he was very aware of the situation. After I made a complaint to the hotel and requested to speak to a manager then is when he reached out. By phone. He then offered me something to basically make me go away- hotel points. This establishment must deal with this young man's attitude all the time bc no one was shocked when he walked off abruptly. I will never stay here and you should do yourself a favor and book elsewhere. I would have much rather preferred just common respect and communication. Do better!
Sadly while at this hotel my American Express card went missing btwn valet and me checking in. I don't want to falsely accuse but I'm pretty sure it was stolen from my car after I left it in there accidentally. I travel often and Hilton is not on my list of acceptable hotels. Try...
