Unfortunately we had a very negative experience at Riverwalk Restaurant for brunch on a Saturday. We were a party of 4 friends and would never return. After the hostess brought us to our table, more than 20 minutes passed and no server had approached our table. It was impossible to find a sever, to the point that we went to a bussing station ourselves to get waters. We ultimately had to find the hostess to ask her if anyone was coming to the table. This should have been a sign to leave then and there. Our server finally arrived, it was clear she was frazzled and stressed. She greeted us and immediately told us it would “take very long to get food because we are sharing a kitchen with room service, Anchor and Brine, and the buffet.” The brunch menu is relatively small and she also pointed out three items that were no longer available. We decided to order Mimosas for the table, the $65 Mimosa experience which turned out to be an $11 bottle of Mionetto Prosecco and 4 small carafes with thick artificial fruit syrups. No juice. Again we waited long for the food to arrive, two burgers and a sandwich. We had to serve ourselves waters again during the meal. A manager approached our table and asked us how our experience had been. When we kindly suggested the service experience was very negative, he confirmed they’ve had a lot of trouble and asked us to give them a second chance. He did not ask us what he could do to amend the current situation and did nothing to appease us aside from apologize. The restaurant is in a beautiful location, and that is the only positive. The service was abysmal. The food was fine. The entire experience overpriced for the quality. Unfortunately Marriot should have recognized they are far from ready to be open...
Read moreWhat a sad disappointment. It was our first time visiting Riverwalk Terrace that I found on Instagram. The design of the restaurant and terrace were a 9.8/10, only thing that could have made it better is fans on the terrace. I mean this is Florida come on, we need air flow. But the interior and rest of the design was AMAZING! The disappointment was the service. We were seated and then completely ignored. After 15 mins we flagged down a staff member and asked if we had a server. The woman acted surprised and said “yes someone will be with you shortly”. We waited another 5 minutes before the serve ran by and said “I’m so sorry, I have to run 7 credit cards before I will come back”. We waited another 5 minutes before we ever got water. There were 2 other staff members on the patio who completely ignored us and could have easily helped bring waters to the table. The food service was slow, but luckily the food itself was amazing. Great presentation, really good. But we had to flag down the server every time we needed refills on our waters which is basic level service. Clearly the restaurant lacks a strong management team directing the staff to cover areas appropriately. For this being a Marriott property and restaurant we were shocked with how poor the service was. Especially at the price we paid. I really hope that service improves because we are usually easily impressed and don’t complain, but this experience was really disappointing and hasn’t happened to us in a...
Read moreArrived at 1:07 for a 1pm reservation today, and it took 15 minutes to get seated once we arrived even though it wasn’t very busy and the table we eventually sat at was empty the whole time. After 20 minutes of sitting at our table without a server coming by or acknowledging us at all, I went and asked the hostess to please send a server over. The server came over for the first time a few minutes later, and once we ordered it took over 45 minutes to get the two burgers and one Cuban sandwich that we ordered. If you go here (don’t) do yourself a favor and save an hour of your life by paying for the overpriced buffet. At the end of our meal the manager came to our table to ask how things went - we explained our poor experience and he shrugged it off and “explained” that the restaurant is only a couple weeks old and this is how things have been going so far but that the team is going to talk about how they can improve. After meeting the manager, everything made sense about our poor experience - I expected him to ask what he could do to make the situation better, but he didn’t. The average Applebee’s or Chili’s knows how to deliver a far superior guest experience, for a much more reasonable price. Very surprising for a Marriott property, I hope they can course correct asap because it’s a great location/view and the decor inside the restaurant is very nice - but for now it seems they are content to rely on the location and river view as an excuse for...
