Our annual trip to New Mexico found us spending more time in Taos. There are so many gorgeous galleries BUT none of them compare to Jones Walker. From the minute you walk in and have your senses inspire with smell and sound…..to the minute you get to interact with the owners Tony and Max….wow. Just wow. The conversation and ambiance led us to purchase this lovely piece from one of Taos finest painters. None of this would have happened if it weren’t for Jones Walker! Thank you Tony, Max and Beth for a memorable experience and we can’t wait to come back next year to see what you have in store!

What an amazing gallery in Taos! A must see while on Bent Street in the Plaza. We so enjoyed our time perusing the artists works and chatting with Max Jones about a potential piece from him. Tony was incredibly inviting with humor, knowledge and lively conversation. We could have stayed for a few hours there. Bought a gorgeous Scott Messick piece and are looking forward to returning in September. And they're often open later than other shops on the Plaza.

If you're ever in Taos - make sure your FIRST STOP is Jones Walker of Taos! Max and Tony are the fabulous owners who will make you feel right at home without pressure or pretenses. I happen to be a big fan of Max Jones' artwork and own several pieces that are in my home. They also showcase several other exclusive artists that you won't find anywhere else and most are local to the area. Such a magical town and magical art experience while you're there.

The Jones Walker Gallery in Taos sits on Bent Street, a low adobe building with a pulse. You step inside, and the air shifts—cool, quiet, bursting with color. Paintings hang bold and unapologetic, each a story of the desert, the sky, the people. Max Jones, one of the owners, moves among them, his eyes sharp. You meet him, and it’s not just a handshake—it’s a moment, raw and real, like the art on the walls.

Max’s work is fun, vibrant, canvases alive with intriguing characters—figures that dance with the sun’s heat, wild and untamed. Other artists fill the space with their own visions, alive with the light of Taos. Much to discover in all the rooms, the art doesn’t just hang—it speaks. It demands.

I left with a Max Jones original, not just a purchase but a claim, a piece of Taos to carry home. The gallery’s alive with Max and Tony, who know every stroke, every story. You don’t just visit; you feel it....

This might have been our best experience in Taos.

Tony was inviting, kind, and had an incredible sense of when to give space to let the awe of the artist's work settle in. He treated us like old friends and you can easily feel his love for Taos and her history. He truly knows the depth of work from the artists he showcases.

We were also lucky enough to be visiting while Jocelyn Martinez was there and she was also kind enough to talk us through some of the local work and, of course, hers as well.

We ended up leaving with a piece of pottery from Clay Hicks, but regardless of whether your intent is to purchase anything, there is a wealth of knowledge and hospitality at Jones Walker of Taos -- make...
