Robert L. Parsons Fine Art — Attraction in Taos

The name of this gallery includes the words "fine art" for a reason... the art collection is spectacular! It almost feels more like a beautiful museum, and I mean that in the best way possible. These are not just paintings by local artists, this collection is the best of the best western artists, most who have long since passed away. Incredible to view, mesmerizing at times. We are not even fans of western art, but the experience of touring this gallery was breathtaking! The staff (a woman that day) was intimately familiar with each piece, and knew it's history as well as the details of the artist. As she explained, many of the pieces came from private collections, and will likely return to a private collection when purchased! So wonderful to be able to see them "in transition!" The gallery also has a nice collection of vintage southwestern blankets. Parsons Fine Art is definitely an art collector's paradise. But, even us novices thoroughly enjoyed the visit! Stunning art. Got very mixed messages from woman working there. She said "make yourself at home. Enjoy". Then, she asked too many personal questions, followed us around, interjected her thoughts and opinions into our personal conversations, and in short did not allow us to enjoy. I stayed quiet and let my husband deflect, but our outing was tainted and I left wondering what her presence and chatter made us...

The quality of the collection in this gallery is exceptional, sadly is does balance out the rudeness from the man minding the shop. Was he Robert Parsons???? I would never set foot in this gallery again, and will certainly tell friends to pass it by. Visit Jones Walker next...
