Ken Nails and Spa — Attraction in Tempe

They were friendly, the place was clean, they offered water, and the pedicure was good. I gave 4 stars because they stated they were familiar with hard gel which turned out to be false. As a nail tech myself, I wanted my set removed as I did not have a dust collector nor did I feel like spending the time e-filing my nails. As this is the only way to remove hard gel since they are non-porous. I quickly realized he was unfamiliar when he proceeded to soak my nails in acetone and have moments of frustration when the acetone was doing absolutely nothing. Feeling bad but trying very hard not to tell him his job, I politely informed him it would be acceptable if he just wanted to use the e-file and even leave a thin layer. To which he did, then left the table abruptly to get to the next client as you can imagine took longer than expected. Even though I was rudely left at the table (no thank you for coming in, pay at the front, see you next time) I still left him a $50 tip for his time cause I do believe it was not his fault but the fault of the manager who answered the phone and falsely stated they were trained...

I have no idea why this place doesn’t have more reviews because I was blown away!!! The place was clean and they were very nice greeting me upon entry even though they were pretty busy. Someone got to me right away and I asked for dipping powder and not only did Tommy work quickly and efficiently but he did a really good job. I like to get colors that are really neutral and don’t stand out but every time I pick a color at any other place they say something to the effect of “oh you can’t have that color it’s too close to looking like no color” but Tommy didn’t try to convince me to get another color which I really liked. So, this is an update. I used to LOVE coming here.... well I'm going to be taking my business else where due to the fact they have become a NICKLE AND DIME nail salon. Their prices are ridiculous. I came In wanting a acrylic coffin shape cat eye design. And was told $70 yikes it's steep but whatever... well I kept a little bit of length on my nail no stacked on tips just the one tip I added. They tried charging me 10 DOLLARS FOR IT WHAT ?! And then i had one toe that had a little bit of left over gel and they wanted to charge $5 for that .
