A friend of ours had their after party at the Copper Bar. They rented out the room on the top floor of the location and we were treated terribly by the bartender (Conner F) the entire time. My girlfriend and her friend being under 21 at the time were allowed to stay until 9:00p. That is completely fine however at 7:30p when they arrived they were lied to and belittled by the bartender stating they needed to order food or show IDs to stay. They being in the timeframe that allows individuals under 21 did nothing wrong and corrected him. Also to add to the fact that he said they had to order food even though the space was rented for this weddings after party.
On top of all of this I drove from Indianapolis to congratulate the bride and groom. I ordered a tall Miller Lite and mozzarella sticks. The total was about $14.59 and then I cashed out without starting a tab. When I went to ask why I had another $10 charge on my account, Conner F, the bartender lied and said “well you ordered drinks downstairs and I saw you walk upstairs with them” all of which was a bold faced lie. I told him to get his manager and met them downstairs to ask about it. The charge ended up being the pre-authorization for starting a tab but how we were treated was...

We were part of a party of six. My husband and I arrived early, so we went ahead and ordered the mushroom chips. We waited 20+ minutes for them. They were not warm at all, but they were tasty. So that was a wash.
After we put in our dinner order, we waited another 45+ minutes. (During this time I walked to the restroom which is past the kitchen. The visible cook was in there on his cell phone. He appeared to be just hanging around.) When we finally got our meal, the Italian Beef was completely inedible. It had been cooked/heated for what appeared to have been days. It was beyond burnt and so so dry. I would not have been surprised to find out that it was last week's beef. The server asked if we wanted something different (we did not have time and went to our event hungry instead) and took them off of our bill, obviously.
The running joke in most of the town is that if you have a couple of hours and aren't hungry, go to The Copper Bar for dinner. Every now and then we retest the waters, only to be reminded of what a mismanaged travesty this place is. They need Gordon...
Read moreMy husband and I were traveling home from Evansville. We stopped at Copper Bar and hit the jackpot! I went to college in Evansville for 4 years and have been traveling back there for 2 years and I honestly never knew there was more to Terre Haute than the main highway down 41 (which is not impressive). I knew Larry Bird once had a restaurant there, so we looked it up and it lead us to the Copper Bar! It has wall-to-wall Larry Bird and Indiana State memorabilia. The waitress was great and so was the food. I had a delicious Bloody Mary with yummy garnish and my husband was very happy with the draft selection. There is an upstairs that would be great for a rehearsal dinner or private party. They let us check it out and it has even more memorabilia and Sports Illustrated covers!!! Then we learned there is a Larry Bird museum next door. We walked through and my husband throughly enjoyed it!! It's free and well worth the stop for a sports fan. We were impressed with the Copper Bar and it helped change our opinion of Terre Haute...we...
