Overall, a must visit for anyone in Terre Haute. One of the best brunch places I've ever been. Ever since we first visited this place accidentally, we fell in love with it. The food is way too delicious. Best compliments to the chef. They know their flavors well!! Great choices for vegetarian dishes.
Here are a few dishes we've tried so far rated by how much I liked them:
LadyBird Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup: Firstly, the tomato soup is one of the, if not THE, best soups I've had in Terre Haute. It is quite thick and the flavor is deep. The grilled cheese has some jalapeños in it, that actually tasted sweet. Not sure how they make it or who came up with it, but the combination goes really well together. And yeah, their sour dough bread is great!
Soho Latke Balls: These can be ordered as a side (qty:3) or as an appetizer (qty:6). They seem to be filled with cheese and potato (though not entirely sure) but they taste like heaven. Crrunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. A must try here!
The Avacado toast: The toast comes with a sour dough bread with our choice of eggs and the rest of the filling (avacado, onion, tomatoes etc.) on top of the eggs. It is served with a side of a LOT of greens and my wife really loved the salad.
The service there is quite good too. It is usually busy, so the service is not super quick, but the folks working there are really sweet and give great recommendations.
The ambience seems to be changing everyday, from a summer day in Miami to a cool café in Maryland.
We've been going there every week and taking all of our guests and friends there for brunch, and everyone has loved their time there so far.
The only thing that could've made me love it even more is if they have a wider choice of drinks or beverages. The current menu seems to be too focused on Coffee, but since I'm not an expert there, I'll let everyone else experience it...
Read moreThis was my first time visiting this restaurant, and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. We were greeted and seated promptly, and our server was friendly, though somewhat nervous. We were seated at a very small two-top table that shifted each time we moved, which was uncomfortable.
We ordered drinks (a matcha and an iced latte) and an appetizer (Southern Comfort Latkes). After ten minutes, we placed our entrée order, still without having received our drinks or appetizer. Our entrees arrived and three minutes later along came with our drinks. The server mentioned that they couldn’t locate the bartender, which they explain was the reason for the delay. I noticed that my matcha was watered down and lacked the flavor advertised.
We still hadn’t received our appetizer and inquired about it. The server admitted he may have forgotten to place the order and asked if we still wanted it; we confirmed, and he entered the order. Additionally, my friend ordered another drink but never received it. Our appetizer finally arrived almost as we were finishing our entrees. The server asked if we needed to-go boxes immediately after. I took a single bite of the Latkes and was extremely disappointed — they were unseasoned, mushy, and lacked flavor. I waited for the server to return to express this, but when he finally came back, he presented the check before we could say anything. We had to ask him to remove the appetizer, as we barely had a bite and received it after our main courses.
Throughout our visit, it seemed staff were more focused on a ribbon-cutting ceremony and taking pictures than on providing attentive service to customers. As someone who works in the food and service industry, I believe the restaurant would benefit greatly from improved staff training and better communication between the back of house and front of...
Read moreLadybird Café is exactly the kind of spot you hope to stumble upon—full of character, flavor, and heart. From the moment you step inside, the boho-eclectic interior sets a warm and inviting tone. With mismatched seating, cozy nooks, and airy spaces perfect for groups or solo escapes, this café effortlessly accommodates everything from remote work to long-overdue catch-ups with friends.
The menu is a creative blend of boozy brunch favorites, aftermarket cocktails, and well-crafted small plates. Our table sampled a variety of dishes that truly showcased Ladybird’s attention to detail and flavor.
The cinnamon roll was a standout—a generous portion with that soft, gooey center that cinnamon roll dreams are made of. The berry yogurt and granola bowl offered a refreshing contrast: silky, whipped yogurt with a subtle vanilla note, topped with a vibrant mix of fresh berries and crunchy granola.
Don’t skip the bread pudding French toast—it sounds like a sugar bomb, but instead surprises with a well-balanced richness, cinnamon warmth, and just the right amount of syrup. The bacon was crisped to perfection—savory, salty, and satisfying.
And then there’s the coffee. Hot or iced, every cup was a hit—but the true star? The Crows Nest, a bold blend of marshmallow whiskey, toasted marshmallow espresso, dairy, and mocha cold foam. It’s indulgent without being cloying and absolutely worth the splurge.
Whether you’re flying solo with a book, meeting up with friends, or looking for your next remote work spot, Ladybird Café offers the kind of thoughtful vibe and menu that makes it easy to linger. It’s a welcome and stylish addition to Terre Haute’s local dining scene—and one you’ll want to return to...
