This store used to be my favorite store to get art supplies from. Not sure what happened maybe it was an off day. Today I needed help finding a 11ā x 14ā sketchbook, a standard in the design field. The drawing section was so disorganized I couldnāt find the drawing instruments I needed. Portfolios where on the floor, none of the drawing pens where in the right spots, and the sketchbooks where all mixed up. I pressed the help button and waited for a half hour. Finally I gave up and walked around looking for a staff member to help me. We walked over to the sketchbook section, where I was originally, and the staff member pointed to a pile of 8.5āx 11ā hardbound sketchbooks, when I specified I needed help finding an 11ā x 14ā sketchbook. She then suggested I go to downtown Chicago to Blick. While I do appreciate the suggestion I would have had the staff member actually look in the back and help me find what Iām looking for if itās not out on the floor. I know for a fact that Michaelās carries 11ā x 14ā sketchbooks, as I have bought them from this location for the last 10+ years and the website says they have it, I just couldnāt locate them on the shelf! Never in my life have I ever encountered such a bad experience in an art store. I am posting this review in hopes that the staff will read it and improve on their organization and customer service skills, as I do love shopping at Michaelās and am a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVery disappointing experience. I have been a customer at this location since it opened. I have lived in the area for over 20 years. It is so disappointing to see the quality of costumer service diminish as well as over all organization and cleanliness. I remember coming to this store and being received with a warm welcome and exceptional customer service. This was not the case. I politely asked the lady at the front if I would be able to get assistance for a Swarovski crystal butterfly (majority of the crystals have security locks). Shortly after she looked around and then asked another employee to help her find the key. A young women approached me (with no costumer service etiquette). She had a blank stare and simply said she could not find her key and that she would be unable to give us the butterfly. Mind you the butterfly is on a very accessible paper ālabelā (if I am not mistaken) . I simply asked if she could use scissors to cut it. She said there were no scissors available. This is a craft store. Upon asking for the manager I was informed that the lady that was āunableā to be of assistance was the manager. I felt like it was a joke. I have managerial experience as well as corporate experience. I am certain that costumer satisfaction is key. I would recommend corporate to pay a visit. Michaelās is known for its quality and costumer service all of which this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went to this location on two different occasions and had bad customer service experiences both times. The first time was when I had just gotten a supply list for one of my painting classes, and I was shopping for supplies. Being new to painting, I decided to ask one of the employees (an elderly woman) if she could help me find some of the supplies on my list. She said--with the rudest attitude possible-- "No, I cant leave my work station" and she shooed me away. Mind you, she is walking around the middle of the store, so I do not know what work station she would be abandoning. On my second visit, I was picking up an online order because I figured it would be better to just order my items online and pick them up in store than to deal with such rude employees. I went to the framing counter and hit the button for assistance. I waited about twenty minutes for an employee to show up. I really want to see craft stores like Michael's survive and not be completely replaced by online retailers, but with this kind of service, I'm not so...
