Stayed one night to attend a concert in Promenade Park. Valet parking and check in were smooth and convenient. We literally checked in, dropped our bag in our room and left for the concert. Before we left, we turned the AC to 65 so the room would be nice and cold when we got back from spending a hot night outside. We got back a few hours later and found the temp in our room to be 76 degrees. Apparently the AC only runs if you are in the room. It took at least 2 hours to get down to 71. I went to the bathroom to wash my face and the hand towels and wash cloths that were hung had a gob of brown hair stuck to them. Called the front desk to let them know that I would be putting the affected towels outside the door and they apologized but did not offer to bring fresh replacements. The room itself appeared clean and was spacious. When I took a shower in the morning, the shower gel in the shower was completely empty so I had to climb out and grab a bar from the sink. We paid extra for what was labeled as a "breakfast buffet" on the booking website and were given 2 breakfast vouchers for the NAPA restaurant onsite when we checked in. We went to the restaurant and found that there was a very basic complimentary continental breakfast set out for all hotel guests. Since we had breakfast vouchers, we were shown to a table where one of the chairs had brown and red stains all over it and were presented with a menu with 5 options on it (Not the breakfast buffet we were expecting). 2 eggs and meat, omelette, french toast, pancakes, or breakfast sandwich. I chose the omelette with "red skin potatoes". I asked for a side of fruit and was told it was too early (8am) for prepared fruit but that there was oranges, apples, and bananas on the continental counter. The omelette wasn't horrible, the potatoes were clearly rehydrated from a box and tasted like plastic. My husband asked for 2 eggs over easy and was served eggs fried hard and the same rehydrated potatoes I got. We had to ask for salt, pepper, and ketchup as it was not on the table or the continental counter. Neither of us finished our breakfast but we both almost immediately had upset stomachs and have spent the majority of the day not feeling well. I have stayed in this hotel prior to the rebranding when it was the Park Inn and have enjoyed past stays even though it was dated and had seen better days. I was looking forward to the updates and typical Hilton comfort but this is not it. This is the same semi run down hotel it was before with an attempt at a remodel and updated accessories but overall it looks and feels the same as it did before but now its $200 a night plus $25 valet parking instead of $79 per night with...

Read moreThe rooms were nice and clean but booking a block of rooms here was an absolute nightmare. Honestly it was the part of wedding planning that caused me the most stress! I had so many guests book at other hotels because they were told there was no rooms left, but when I called I would find out there were plenty. My SIL called 4 times in one day and got 4 different answers on how many rooms were left in the block with the first time being told there were none! Then on top of this stress of my guests being told there are no rooms when there were plenty I was also never told at any point that parking wasn’t included. I expect to pay for parking in places like NYC or Chicago but Toledo? So I get calls while I am getting ready for my wedding about parking at the hotel and if I knew it was 15 bucks whether they were parked all night or for just long enough to check in and leave. To say I was furious that my family had to pay an extra 15 just to park to check in and immediately leave was an understatement and I had to go ahead and start a phone tree to warn everyone else not to park for check in! Just what a bride needs, more stress! Then my husband tries to check in early and lets them know he doesn’t care if the room is clean, we aren’t going to it until after the wedding, just want to make sure our room doesn’t get given away and that we can just come back and go right to our room. They refuse and assure us that our room will be waiting for us until after the wedding and of course that was not true. We reserved a suite so that we could hang out and unwind with our immediate families after the party and thank them for all their help, but they ‘overbooked’ and we were given a regular room that would not fit even some of our family since we came back so late. Then on top of that some people had their block price not used since their rooms were swapped due to overbooking so again, not pleased.
So overall I would have given a 1 for the embarrassment/stress this hotel has caused and while I don’t ever plan on getting married again I would tell anyone getting a block of rooms to pick a different hotel, the rooms were clean so there is one point for that. But yea when we met the family that stayed at the staybridge instead, they raved about it so I’d tell people to book blocks...
