I have wanted to come check out the Birdcage Theatre since I saw it many many years ago as a teen on one of many ghost hunting shows, not only was I so interested in the history of this amazing building with seemingly endless stories of tragedy and passion in its many forms but also of course the lives and history of the people, men an women alike who spent their time in this establishment. We opted for the ghost hunting tour and were so lucky to end up being the only ones on the tour. We had to purchase a 3rd ticket so the tour would run and let me tell you it was absolutely worth it. Not only was our guide so kind and incredibly personable but she was so knowledgeable of the stories of some of the most well known people who still linger in the birdcage. Every inch of this place is riddled with stories-and bulletholes. After our incredibly informative guided tour we sat in the main room behind the stage with some ghost hunting equipment and the lights were all turned out. The energy at no point was negative, the flashlights were the most active part of the session, with some intermittent attention from the k2 meters on the table in front of us and the rem pod set up by the stairs chiming to get our attention a few times. Though the patrons and performers may not be in our same plane anymore they certainly still enjoy entertainment! After our guide had told us a story earlier in the night of them wanting to hear her sing,I decided to ask myself if they would like a song, it was so much fun to see the flashlights flickering and lighting up as I sang. I wouldnt miss the ghost tour as it was a truly special experience and was the highlight of our trip to the area. I just hope I can find my way through to hop on one of the ghost...
Read moreMy favorite part of the Tombstone experience. Have been here several times over the years. One year, my mother, son, and I went on the evening ghost tour. There were two drunk older women dressed like saloon girls on the tour with us and about 10 other people. They kept talking about the last time they had been on the tour and how they had experiences with a ghost named Virginia. So they were looking for her again. At the end of the tour, we were all sitting in the back room with all of the lights off and those, what I guess were ghost sensor things, on the table in front of us. The two drunk ladies would not stop with the Virginia thing. They kept interrupting the silence by calling out Virginia's name and being generally drunken. It was kinda annoying and we were not seeing any ghost action. After a while one of the drunk ladies there, in the pitch dark, said "Give us a sign, Virginia!" And then, in the most perfect moment of comedic timing I have ever been witness to, someone in the tour let out a big fart. The entire room busted up with laughter. The drunk lady did not realize it was a fart and said "Thank you Virginia!" which made everyone laugh even harder. The lady was thoroughly confused at this point and shrieked "Why is everyone laughing!?" It was truly hysterical, and we laughed and made jokes about it for months afterwards. I will remember that for the rest of my life. None of us knew who ripped that fart, but it made the tour worth the cost of...
Read moreWe arrived at 9am when it opened. The fliers for the place were allot more appealing then what we even saw. All was a building with souvenirs to buy. When asked the man there serion questions, we FELT we actually got a bit of an ATTITUDE from him_ like we were wasting his time. there was nobody there, wasnt any type of explanation or show or anything. The downstairs wasn't even open for an additional hour even and apparently, it was not so nice that we even ASKED even though there Is a posted sign saying there is more souvenirs downstairs and to just ask. We showed back up a few hours later (after lunch) and there was a dress up female explaining some stuff, my son (11 years old) was the one who had had enough and matter factly asked them where this downstairs was _ because maybe THAT was where we find out about the hountings, etc. He finds out that it's outside , around the corner and down some steps_ BUT the whole place was just MORE of the same souvenirs we say upstairs. We looked a bit, but then my son was scolded by the lady for looking in the back room which he THOUGHT it was possibly just another room with more souvenirs. _ he didn't see the sign posted on further wall up higher.. We didn't get a very welcome feeling in the morning by the guy OR in the afternoon;so I wasn't about to waste more...
