The place is pretty and has cool art. I was a little skeptical but we decided to stay and try it out. Our server brought out chips and salsa. The salsa surprised me, although it looked like store bought salsa it was actually pretty tasty. It had a nice kick to it. They chip bowl wasn't full and they didn't keep them coming so that's no bueno. My fiance ordered the carne asada burrito with a side of black beans and rice. He had no complaints. I didn't try his rice, but it looked like the one my mom made us growing up. (Yes, Mexican rice has veggies in it, but we just call it rice 😂) I had the carne asada street tacos. They were more like gourmet tacos than street tacos. They were topped with cabbage, cheese and a few jalapeno slices for garnish. They looked beautiful and delicious. They weren't served with salsa so that was a bit disappointing. I had to ask for a side of salsa. The meat was good but the tortillas were so cold they broke when I picked up the taco. A broken tortilla isn't gonna stop me from eating, so I managed although it was a little messy. On to the sides, all the orders come with an option of two sides, the options are: Mexican rice, black beans, refried beans and grilled corn. I opted for the black beans and corn. Now that was mighty delicious!! The corn was grilled and had bits of roasted red pepper. The black beans were great too. I ate all of that and ended up leaving a taco.
Although I don't consider it to be authentic, it's definitely tasty. So I'll be back on my next...
Read moreThe room was better than expected and pictured on the website. We stayed in Room #4 for three (3) nights while attending a wedding and were surprised how well appointed the room was. The bathroom was large but has minimal shelf space. The walk-in tiled shower was large with two (2) showerheads, a tile bench seat and thick frosted glass panel and shower door. The bedroom has a large flat panel TV, comfortable chair with side table, tall dresser, and luggage rack. Several lamps and the overhead lighted ceiling fan provide ample lighting. The open closet has ample space for hanging your clothes, but there was only one hangar in the closet.||The provided daily breakfast at “The Longhorn Restaurant” across the street was large and filling. The menu featured I believe a selection from five (5) choices that would be ample for a “High School Football Player” and includes coffee or tea. I ordered the two (2) eggs, two (2) bacon, and hash browns, without the toast, as the portions are large. They will substitute French Toast for the two (2) bread slices if you wish.||The email and text communication by the staff was excellent and always quick and polite. The housekeeping staff were always polite and friendly. Housekeeping is not provided daily, but if you need fresh towels, they will provide them on request.||We plan to stay at The Russ House again when we return to visit...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Cafe Margarita to honor the passing of my Grandmother after her funeral service. We were an extremely large party (20+) people who had last minute attendees (as these things tend to) and the staff/restaurant were incredibly understanding and accommodating. The food was excellent but what really stood out to me was the service! I have seen kitchens fall apart when large parties this size come in but Cafe Margarita took it in stride! They served our youngest guest first (really warmed my heart to see that) and all the food after that came out in a timely manner. I really wish I could remember our primary waitress's name but I sincerely wish to give her kudos. Hands down one of my favorite things on the menu was their snake bites. The members of our party ordered both Mexican and Italian dishes and everything was good. If you ever need a place to host a large party Cafe Margarita will make you experience delicious and provide excellent service. Thank you so much for making a difficult time for my family just a...
