I've been in New Jersey for two months now, and I've been going to this gym for around three weeks I think. I started going to support my fiancée, but I quickly fell in love with this place. To be clear, my fiancée and I and are both females. We expected to deal with some kind of homophobia when we joined, but we never dealt with that. We've always been respectful with anyone we've come into contact with. If we do happen to kiss, it's a quick peck on the cheek or lips, never anything gross or inappropriate. We usually will work out in the pool and then just play around (normally we'll play Marco Polo or race around the pool). Since I'm from the south (Texas), I'm not at all used to anything cold. Everyone I've seen go into the pool talks about how warm it is, and I always freak out at how cold it is. My fiancée is from here, so she thinks it's warm. When I get into the pool, she'll usually hold me for a few minutes until I get used to the cool pool. Tonight, we were literally the only ones in the pool area, and possibly the whole women's side of the gym. We could have felt comfortable doing what ever we wanted, but we didn't. She held me, and I think kissed me once or twice on the cheek. Maybe it was the angle we were at, or something, but there was a huge misunderstanding. Who I believe is a manager, came in and accused us of being inappropriate. She also made it sound that if anyone saw us and just assumed we were inappropriate, we'd get into some kind of trouble. I kept asking her what it was she thought we were doing, and she wouldn't give any clear answers. I could totally understand if we were making out, getting naked or doing anything like that, but we weren't. I don't appreciate someone assuming things and getting us all worked up over nothing. I've seen a few things here that I didn't personally care for, but I never said anything or made it a big deal. I was enjoying this gym so much, and it was the only thing keeping my mind off of my depression and anxiety, and now I'll just feel constantly anxious when ever I'm here, because I'll be expecting this lady to do this again, kick us out, yell at us, or I'll expect someone to assume something and complain and then we'll have to deal with drama. I wouldn't have a problem if she kindly said "from the camera, it looked like you two may have been inappropriate. We have some customers who may have taken that the wrong way, so just be more careful". When we signed up, the woman we talked to (I think her name was Lori?) Knew we were engaged. No one ever told us anything like "affection isn't allowed here" or anything like that. We've held hands, and probably held each other around various employees, and no one has ever said a word, and has always been very kind. If this didn't happen, I would give this an amazing review. I just don't appreciate people assuming things and having an attitude, and not even being clear on what they think...
Read moreBirthday party. My experiance was a horrible one due to the staff not paying enough attention to the children they were tending to in the pool area. These two employees are lifeguards but we're not paying attention. One child almost drowned. While the child was going under the water, both attendants just watch while the parent is yelling at them to help her. Finally one of them moved got a noodle then threw it at the child. The child was in distress could not get the noodle. Finally and reluctantly the attendant threw herself. It looked like she did not want to get wet. So she finally threw herself in the water, after giving the child the noodle the child slipped while the attendant turned around and went under again. I would assume that you would grab the child and sit them on the ledge, but no the child had a traumatic moment and so did the parent. No apologises were given to the parent. To make matters worse it happened again but to another child. Horrible. Just horrible. After the pool part of the party, came the sitting down for pizza and cake, the attendant just stood against the wall. The parents practically did everything. All the attendants did was clean. Afterwards there was an obstacle course which the attendance gave an introduction too, but did not interact with the children. One child fell and the attendant did not even ask if the child was ok. Just looked while the parents got up to get the child. No experience in the care of children. Need to hire better staff. Also the attendants were not working with any smiles all gloomy I rather be somewhere else type of...
Read moreI went to this gym 5 days a week for about 16 months. For what you get, it is way overpriced. 50 dollars a month and everything is completely outdated. Not to mention there is only one location, so that 50 bucks a month is a complete ripoff. You could have several memberships at multiple location gyms for less than that. Half the treadmills aren't functioning and they don't even leave a sign up telling you it's going to be repaired, because it most likely won't be. You'll have no room to do anything because every piece of equipment is squeezed so tightly together. No deadlift platform either so you probably won't be doing those. The last time I was there they were painting the pool during while they were open during their busiest hours (they should have done this when they were closed. Just shows how much they value their customers). Everyone I talked to complained about the fumes and had headaches. I quit right after that (also you have to wait a year after signing up before you quit). There are much cleaner, cheaper gyms that actually care about their customers. Highly recommend looking elsewhere, like Crunch...
