Have gone to this store twice, and both times have been beyond happy with our experience. From the moment you walk in, you can tell the employees here really care about what they do, and know their stuff! Nick has helped us find the perfect dining set for our family, and “big kid” bed for our little one.

Initially, we had a delay in receiving our products by the anticipated timeline. In our recent purchase, there was a king bed frame, full bed frame, and dresser set. Once the products were available, the two bed frames were delivery to our home damaged. The king was unable to be assembled due to degree of damage to the side rails, and the full bed frame was able to be assembled with a guarantee product would be reviewed before next delivery, as it was stated the furniture was not inspected before delivery this time. Before this first delivery, we were advised we needed to dissemble our current bedframes, which then meant we needed to sleep with our mattress on the floor with our nee king headboard and footboard leaning against the wall while we waited several weeks for the next shipment to come in, to then schedule our following delivery for the king bed side rails and full bed headboard and side rails with drawers. The next delivery and assembly was either done wrong, or manufacturing was faulty (depending on who you ask), as the new (and inspected prior to delivery) bed rail and frame do not align on the full sized bed frame and the drawers that are part of the bed were set up without handles to pull them open. In addition, after putting our mattress on the king bed frame, after assembly, we then realized we needed a box spring for the king bed frame. This was not communicated to us upon purchase. We spent the remainder of the afternoon looking for places that had box springs available to fit a king bed and ended up having to return to lake effect furniture, due to all other local places stating delivery would take several days and none were otherwise in stock. And, because the bed frame was assembled now, we could no longer sleep on the mattress on the floor. All of this to say, we are deeply disappointed in the customer service we experienced once issues arose. There were no apparent efforts to remedy the situation, or offer a discount on the additional purchase we had to make for last minute box springs for the repeated inconveniences. We have now had to accommodate our schedules for now 3 separate deliveries to have people come into our home for delivery and assembly. We have interrupted our child’s routine and space, along with our work schedules in this experiences, which did not appear to be taken into consideration as continued issues came up. Read moreWe were greeted and assisted immediately by a member of the staff, Michelle R., who found us some great sectionals within our search criteria. We roamed around after viewing the suggested sets, and went home to contemplate. After thinking it through and measuring everything, we went back and decided we would go with Lake Effect for a sectional, chair, and ottoman set. Lake effect prides themselves on being family owned, being able to customize each piece of furniture (for the most part) and the warranties that come with the purchase. After spending a couple hours in the store looking at different fabrics that we were told were pet and cleaning friendly, we made our decision and made our purchase. Our delivery was in the window they advised of 6-8 weeks. The delivery was quick. We were so excited to finally have our $5000 set. The first 'nice' set we had ever purchased. we received our set in November. Upon living with the set we chose, we are disappointed to find that the ottoman does not roll properly, as the wheels are not aligned correctly, and the fabric we were told was pet friendly, is not pet friendly at all. I had to purchase a tool to cut the piles off that have resulted from my dogs/cats getting on and off the furniture. The fabric is also a lot lighter than it was on the sample in store, but looked darker online when on the manufacturer website. We thought the sales experience and how good it was, would overflow into owning a set from this store but we have found ourselves disappointed. You can't return or exchange. So we are stuck until we use our warranty.
I don’t typically post reviews like this, as I try to see the good in people and understand that mistakes happen. However, I feel strongly that others should be aware of our experience with Lake Effect Furniture and Mattress before making a purchase.
In 2022, my husband and I purchased a reclining loveseat and reclining chair from Lake Effect Furniture, expecting quality and longevity. Within just a few weeks, we noticed issues—the loveseat seemed misaligned, and the reclining mechanisms were faulty. Within the first year, both pieces stopped functioning properly.
Under the five-year extended warranty we were sold, Lake Effect sent outsourced repair technicians to fix the issues. However, the repairs never fully resolved the problems, and within months, the mechanisms failed again. Over the past three years, our furniture has required repairs four times.
Fast forward to fall 2024—the chair no longer reclines correctly and sits crooked when reclined, while the right side of the loveseat’s reclining feature has completely stopped working. When we called for yet another repair, we were told it was no longer covered.
After pushing for answers, we were shockingly informed that our “five-year warranty” was actually just a protection plan—contradicting what we were explicitly told at the time of purchase and for the last 3 years. Despite arguing our case, the owner of Lake Effect Furniture only agreed to cover part of the labor costs, which we reluctantly accepted since we had been sold misinformation. The owner spent the entire conversation asking me what we did to the furniture to cause it to break and backing his employee saying he wouldn’t sell us false information.
That was four weeks ago. Despite three follow-up calls, no technician has been scheduled, and Lake Effect has remained unresponsive.
Bottom line: We spent a significant amount of money on what we were led to believe was high-quality furniture from a reputable company. Three years later, we’re left with broken furniture, poor customer service, and a complete lack of accountability from Lake Effect Furniture.
