I enjoy going to hobby lobby most of the time. They are more so a craft decorating store than arts and crafts itself. Except for certain areas like jewlery making and drawing or painting. I went this visit to look for paper mache mix. The only thing I could find was pre mixed just add water pulp and not the actual mix itself. They are geared for first timers for the most part but usually you can find what your looking for. The employees are almost always extremely helpful and will walk you over to what you need and suggest tips and what not. Although you do occasionally get someone who just points and says where it is. All in all a great place for the more basic needs of arts and crafts. I personally do all models and go for acrylic paints, air brush stuff, flock/basing textures. They have a whole aisle for these genre and it's very well stocked. As for some other areas of practice I am not to versed in so I couldn't coent to well on but they seem to be very well stocked. I did visit the inks and painting/drawing areas which have tons of product to look through. Also they do a great job in their framing department too. The guy there is very helpful. So yea I highly recommend Hobby Lobby for your arts and crafts needs and venture around and see what else is there. You may spark up your thought process and think of other...
Read moreAbsolutely awful experience at the location on Route 31 in Clay, NY. I had a 5 piece canvas that I brought there to have stretched on frames. I signed and agreed to a price for it to be completed, which I initially thought was steep from the start. When it was finished and ready for pick up (2 weeks later) they tried to charge me a price more than double than what I agreed to and signed for. The manager’s (Quinn) solution you ask?....We will un-stretch the canvas and give you your artwork back. It will not be the same as it was before, instead of honoring the price they quoted me and admitting they messed up on the quote. They were very rude and anything but helpful. Horrible business practice. I anticipate contacting the corporate office with my paperwork to see what should have been done, because it does not seem they would be in business very long with a practice such as what I experienced. If you’re reading this, I highly recommend you do not go there for any custom framing or canvas stretching for your artwork. The entire job probably costed less than $50 in material and they tried charging me just under $300 for the project. The price I agreed to was about $150. Again... DO NOT USE THIS STORE FOR ANY CUSTOM FRAMING OR CAVAS STRETCHING. They will rip you off first chance...
Read moreIncredibly disappointed with with the way that I was treated at the route 31 Hobby Lobby location. I had mis-placed my clutch, it was not in my purse, and I asked my daughter to go to the car to grab it (as I thought I may have left it in there). Since she was taking too long and the store was closing in 5 min, I was going to tell the cashier to take the customer behind me while I waited for her to come back in the store. I grabbed the bag to move it forward away from the cashier and she YANKED it HARD out of my hands as if I was going to take off with it, steal it. As if that wasn't entirely rude and uncalled for.. I then asked if I could write a check instead and needed to borrow her pen. Once I was done writing my check, I put the pen in my hand to hand it back to her and she yanked THAT out of my hand too! Lady, I was NOT going to steal your unicorn invitations OR your pen. To make matters worse, she asked if I had my license to which I told her no, it's in my missing clutch so she asked her mgr and she rudely answered that No, they could not accept my check without my license. I'm pretty sure today was the last time Hobby Lobby will ever get my business.
