Very uncomfortable experience.
This was the third store my girlfriend and I visited as we were looking around for a new mattress. I made it clear we wanted to shop around and talk things over after about 30 minutes in the store. At this point things got very uncomfortable. We were told that was should just buy the mattress we tried. We were told not to go home and think about it. We were also told they couldn't guarantee that they could sell us the mattress at the price they gave us if we came back tomorrow. In addition the salesmen would not stop asking us to try this bed and then this one. Once the the first salesmen exhausted his efforts, another one came in and did the same thing. Each time I mentioned I wanted to go home and talk it over, they got even more pushy. They wouldn't even allow us to go into a corner and talk without constantly listening in to our conversations and chiming in. We ended up spending an hour and a half in the store because they would not let us leave without testing this mattress or that and asking what payments would work.
Like another reviewer wrote, we were also upfront with what price range we were looking for. The salesmen blatantly ignored that and made us try there most expensive beds. We never tried one bed that was under our price limit. We also mentioned multiple times we wanted to go lower and both salesmen just ignored us.
They also at one point asked where else we shopped and we told them we've been to a couple of places like Mattress Express and so on. Both salesmen immediately started to bash the other companies which I found very unprofessional.
Eventually we both got fed up and just walked out of the store, as we did they hollered to us that we were making a mistake and that the deals they offered us would be gone tomorrow. (which no other store that we visited ever said to us!
Don't go here unless you know you want a (expensive)...
Read moreWas coming from a larger chain mattress store that showed me some nice, comfortable mattresses - but I wasn't trying to pay more for a mattress than for my last car! I passed Metro Mattress and decided to stop in and see what they might have to offer. Was struck immediately by the fact that they didn't "swarm" me like I would be the last customer the world ended. The sales consultant that met me when I stepped inside asked me if I was looking for a mattress for just myself, if I slept on my back or side, hot or cold - all the necessary questions. As I tested a number of different mattresses in the firmness and comfort ranges that I was looking at, I mentioned that I might not be able to make a decision today - but wanted to get the info of my sales consultant for when I came back. My sales consultant wasn't permanently "assigned" to that location, but the young lady who was mentioned that she could be sure to credit him when I did make a purchase. She then remembered that there was a unit in the size and firmness that I liked that was a discontinued model that would be at a fraction of its original price - and would I like to try it. Long story short, I tried it...it fit my needs perfectly and in a short time, I left with a GREAT mattress set (to be delivered 2 days later)...the gentleman had the sale and they had made a customer FOR LIFE! Can't say enough about the 2 of them...will recommend this family owned local business to any and...
Read moreFirst time going out shopping for a mattress. I told the lady as soon as I got in what my price range was (2 other stores in the area were able to accommodate easily within that range) the lady was very nice at first and she showed me some different ranges of mattresses, but when she showed me what she had in mind for me it was already well over my price range, and with the frame and topping almost double. I asked how financing worked and once they communicated how it would work, I told them that I had to see if that would work for me and that I wasn't going to make a financial decision that day.
The man in the suit (I believe John) then started to make things very uncomfortable for me by trying to get me to make a purchase that I clearly did not want to make at that time, saying things like: "it doesn't get any more exciting than this" in response to: "I've never been mattress shopping before"; or "what can we do to get you to make a financial decision today?"
My guess is that he knows that his competitors offer similar mattresses for a lot less and tried to pressure me into making a decision because he knew I would not be back, and now I definitely will never come back or recommend it to anyone. I could never imagine pushing a debt onto someone when they aren't entirely committed to the decision - it is highly immoral to...
