Freeport Recreation Center — Attraction in Town of Hempstead

The Freeport Recreation Centre is one of the best workout facilities in the local area. I mostly swim and use the steam room and sauna as well. The facility is “Very” Clean. They are constantly cleaning the locker room and they keep it spotless. The staff members are not only working there, they are always very professional and friendly to everyone they meet. The pool is always spotless clean and the indoor pool is at a constant 85 degrees. I swim 4 times a week and always have a good time talking to other members. We paid for Saturday classes in the beginning of summer (few hundred dollars) turns out we can’t make the classes on time due to family engagements. Class starts at 11am, we get there at 11:05 usually but today we get there at 11:20am. Class is over at 11:30 and they tell us to pay for the whole day. I just feel like since we didn’t make the class are you gonna refund us for the class and now we will pay for the day? Needs a major renovation. Although, the gym was recently renovated and new workout equipment added, the lobby, locker rooms, showers and and bathrooms are dated. Freeport Rec needs a grant to fully modernize the facility. The outdoor pools are nice but in comparison to other towns it lacks a lot of TLC. This could be a great facility for the community, so much potential for revenue but it needs to offer quality recreation programs to attract the right people.
