This was the first asian food market I visited when I came to Rochester in 2002. Back then asian markets were few and far in between. Maybe there were some around, but I didn't know they existed. Nowadays, I am surprised Lee's is still in business. I haven't shopped at this place in a couple of years, so maybe things changed. But when I did waste money here, everything was overpriced, and the produce could be up to a week old if you time it wrong. I understand there is delivery schedule and all that jazz, but it's a vicious, downward spiraling cycle of not enough customers and holding onto old products.. There is another asian grocery store, called Asia Market, right down the street on Brighton-Henrietta Townline Road with much more foot traffic due to, you guessed it, much more reasonable prices and fresher products. They even offer the roast pigs and ducks and the like. For being in a warehouse, you would think Lee's can keep prices down due to cheaper rent. Either owner is greedy or not very good at finding cheaper suppliers. Everyone I know who shop for asian grocery tells me to stay away from this place. And for...
Read moreMany Korean, Japanese, Chinese and other Asian cooking ingredients, from fresh veges/fruites, frozen foods, chilled foods, cooking utensils, sweets, and much, much more. The owner family has been been in Rochester for at least 40-50 years? Unlike some other "oriental" grocery stores, this store is well maintained, with very large variety of items in stock. Fresh Kimchee pickles in a jar is much better, fresher, and cheaper than the ones sold elsewhere. I'm a Japanese, and this is the only Asian store I go. The stocks change regularly, so variety changes, which is...
Read moreI love this place. It can be a bit pricy though. 99% of the items here cannot be found anywhere else in Rochester. 1% might be found at the other mom and pop asian food markets though. Sometimes it's a bit difficult to find what I need, but I usually get it here. The veggies I can always get cheaper at the big Wal@#$t store closeby, if they carry them. So, I try not to get them here, but some exotic items are not carried anywhere but here. So I get them. Mr. Lee and his family have good personality and always will help you if...
