Yaaas Tea at the Motor Parkway Plaza! This is the third location (Farmingdale and Huntington) for this brand and it is becoming quite a force to be reckoned with in terms of bubble tea on Long Island,
They had won the Best of LI for 2023 I recently found out. That is quite an achievement for small businesses on the island and is well deserved.
This location is literally in the heart of the Motor Parkway Plaza. During peak times for lunch and dinner the parking nearest the entrance is super busy but there is more parking to the side and behind the other businesses ( there is an entrance into the plaza via a backstair case).
This location is not as big as Huntington nor Farmingdale as there is no indoor seating. But there is seating outside which is perfect when the weather is agreeable. This location seems more like a grab and go which is actually very convenient. By now anyone who has visited any Yaaas location is familiar with the very convenient ordering kiosks situated at strategic locations when you enter.
The one noticeable difference for this third store is when you enter the display case is right there and they usually have it stocked with some delicious jar cakes or freshly made cream puffs. I think it was definitely a great idea as a lot of their desserts pair very well with the teas they offer, In the other two locations the display case is toward the rear of the store.
The opening day was crazy busy with a line out the door. But the staff here seemed very up to the task as it seemed each order was made in a timely manner. People were of course waiting around but the wait was not too bad considering the place was packed out to the point where they had to limit the customers right before closing time. The employees are polite, courteous and helpful even when it is super busy.
The same level of quality you know from the flagship Farmingdale location and Huntington location is here. It is very evident that the management and owners do an excellent job with training and vetting the employees at each store as their is always a consistent level of quality regardless of the location. I am happy that they moved into Happauge so the community there can experience why Yaaas has been voted the best bubble tea on Long Island three years in a row.
All the boba is made fresh and their brown sugar bobo is still one of the signature flavors I always need to order. Check out what is new in the display case when you visit and if you are lucky you may even get to chat with the owner as she works with the employees whenever she is at...
Read moreFirst and last time. It's hard to find good tea places here in America ever since Teavana closed down. I had high hopes given their name. I ordered the iced Oolong with no added flavor or sugar to taste their tea. Call me a tea snub but I can tell their tea-making teas are less than mediocre. I used to work for Teavana. They train you how to make different teas for how long and what temperature etc. I expected the tea to be made right when they name their business YAAS TEA. I'm disappointed. The tea was bitter brewed too hot and or too long. So it really needs help you need to add flavors and sugars. Their customer service wasn't the best either. I got this weird awkward stare when I walked in. I should of walked out then and there. I give places multiple chances for the first time only so I tried to work the self service being that he was helping a customer. I'm very tech savvy so normally I never have issues with navigating through screens to check out but their screen despite being so massive is very unclear. I had to wait for the customer in front of me to be done meanwhile there are other workers around all of which couldn't be bothered. I then ask the cashier to come over to show me how to work the self check out... He came over to show me it so quickly and just walked away. Kind of weird and rude... I thought maybe I shouldn't let him make me a drink because God knows what maybe they will be doing to it. Idk... I really don't need anybody treating me that way like while I'm paying for an overpriced beverage that's not even made right to begin with. With this all being said now... I will be heading over to Cafe Lahooti in Smithtown. I have no problem with Cafe Lahooti. I feel welcomed over at Cafe Lahooti so I'll be going there. The women who owns the Cafe is nice and gets finer imports. I order her Oolong and it's sweet just on its own; not bitter or over-brewed. There is a better selection of beverages and also homemade...
Read moreStood there for 4 minutes for a pick up order. 1 woman and guy were in the back talking. Guy looks at me, clearly sees me standing at the register because we make eye contact, doesnât say anything and doesnât alert his colleague whoâs supposed to be on the register. That same woman walks up 3-4 min later, says Hi how are you? and begins making another ticket. i wasnât offered any help from her. then another woman comes out from the back, offers to help the person BEHIND me who JUST SHOWED UP and asked if sheâs picking up an order. she gets her order and i have to tell the woman iâm also picking up and i give her my name and she hands me my drink. waste of 8 minutes standing there when thereâs 3 employees i saw working. also not worth the $7 charge (i did have an up charge for foam and almond milk) but you can get triple the amount of drink at dunkin for the same price. not sure if it was an off day for them or just the location but this was my first and last time trying them out just because of the customer...
