We had a great time at this place until around 4pm when I went to the bathroom.
An employee that I had seen sleeping on a chair behind the food counter earlier in the day had awoken and headed to the bathroom at the same time as me. I went in to wash my hands after feeding the goats and he went about his business in there. As I was drying my hands, this employee walked out of the stall and headed straight out the door without washing his hands. I thought, “that was nasty” but I figured I would steer clear of doors he opened and such. That was when my wife said she wanted french fries...and his business became mine to deal with.
As we approached the food hut I could see this half asleep employee standing right at the counter ready to hand food to people. I had to say something so I stormed in and blew up his spot in front of everyone about him not washing his hands after using the bathroom.
What happened next blew my mind!
The food manager yelled back at me that he didnt have to wash his hands after bathroom use as long as he washed them in the back sink of the kitchen before working. I thought that this must be a joke and believe me I would take bets all day long that he did not even wash them in the designated spot. I then said I wanted to speak to the actual manager of the park. That was when sleepy woke up and yelled that she was next door and that it was his grandmother so good luck!
I went over to the grandmanager and told her that she had an employee who didnt wash his hands before the leaving bathroom and was now handling food. She then yelled at me about the policy not requiring hand washing in bathroom as long as its done in back of kitchen. She continued to defend the lack of a bathroom hand washing policy for all employees. I asked does that mean the guys working rides have piss hands too because they did not go to the sanctioned sink in the kitchen?? She did not have an answer for me.
I then said I wanted the owner and she yelled back at me with a sort of evil/satisfied smile saying she was the owners wife.
I then cut my losses as the magic show was about to begin and I realized in this twilight zone of a park things are a bit off. Apparently the Employees Must Wash Hands Before Leaving the Bathroom policy is actually an Employee Should at Some Point Maybe Wash Hands BUT Only if Going to Sink in the Back of Kitchen.
The grandmanager/owner then snuck a picture of me with her phone as I was talking to another employee about the situation. She did this by acting as if she was talking on the phone with someone and aimed the camera towards me. I even heard the shutter noise.
After the magic show, I went into the tilted house, while waiting for the diving horse to start. While walking by my wife and daughter, the grandmanager/owner was back on her phone. My wife heard her say to the person on the phone that she didn’t know where “he” was and she would let that person know. I only assume she was speaking of me and my whereabouts because I told her I was calling the BOH.
Do not eat or drink from here as you will probably get a little toilet spice in your food. Probably a good idea to be aware of the rides and other things employees and your children are touching due to the lack of cleanliness standards...
Read moreWhat an absolutely amazing amusement park! I just spent 5 hours exploring this amazing park with my four and six-year-old today. We did most of the rides, several times over, Dino Roar Valley (which was unbelievable), saw a magic show AND met Santa!!! He has a cute little workshop where we made Christmas ornaments, wrote him a letter and put it Santa mailbox. I was worried that the park wouldn't have a lot of rides or would be too "babyish" for my kids but my worries were put to rest once I pulled into the parking lot. AND what you see from the roads/parking lot is just the tip of the iceberg. This amusement park is under the cover of this amazing forest so you're not walking around in the beating Sun all day, it's cool, comfortable, it was not crowded and my kids were able to go on most of the rides over and over again. Once or twice I had to go on a ride because my daughter is only 40 inches, I believe 48 inches rides without an adult, but there was only two rides out of the 10+ rides that they went on that they need me to go with her . There were some that we didn't even get to! We've been coming to Lake George for 3 years and I can't believe I never knew about this park until now. WE WILL BE BACK again and again and again. The price is $40 per person / child and kids under two are free. They have a Snack Shack with very pleasant employees where you can get popcorn, cotton candy, water, slushies, soda, hot food all for a very very reasonable price. Two kids popcorn, a regular box of popcorn and two large drinks was $12 . The magic show was cute, the magician even called a few of the kids on stage so it made them feel really special. Last but not least, the dinosaurs are not to be missed! it's a bit of a walk down around and back up a path through the forest but just the sight of them with the animatronics was stunning. They even have a little show towards the end of the path that's cute for kids and nice to sit and take a break. It's in an open seating theater outside and they even bring out a "real dinosaur" (Roary). There is a huge parking lot in front with no charge to park, every single employee we came in contact with was helpful and friendly. The park is clean, kept up and you can tell that they care about maintaining the appearance and the rides so they give each guest the best experience. All of these attractions, rides and shows were well worth the $40 per person admission price. Just a wonderful place to...
Read moreI promised myself that I would write a super honest review after going to the Lake George Expedition Park, because the reviews are ALL over the place. Here is my overall thinking/experience: •Rides: they are mostly for the younger crowd, and are mostly rides that go around a large circle (some up and down), just with different things to ride (ie. Helicopter, motorcycle, cars, etc). What's interesting and what I appreciated was that they were all vintage, some as old as from the 60s. They each had a sign that described when it was made and where it was from. It was also fantastic that my kids were able to get on any ride they wanted without a single wait (we went on a Friday). Again, I'm thinking kids under 10 would most enjoy these rides. •Dinosaurs: this was definitely the highlight of the park. They are life-sized, move, and make sounds and are realistic looking. They also provided a short info board next to each Dino. Another plus is that this part of the park is 98% shaded 👍 •Bathrooms: so many, and there were convenient changing tables and places for nursing mothers. Food: we brought in our own food and drinks for the kids, but my husband got a burger (which for some reason took forever). They had all kid-friendly options. Shows: there were shows happening all over the park multiple and various times. We only watched the magic shoe, which was pretty entertaining. Price: this is why I gave it 4 stars. We've been to a ton of parks, and this by far the priciest ticket I've ever paid for. There should be kids' ticket prices like every other park. Recommendations: bring a stroller, bring your own drinks and food, buy tickets earlier for cheaper pricing.
I have a 3 y.o. and 5 y.o. who thoroughly enjoyed their time there, and I know they would go back in...
