Yesterday I was out shopping for mattresses. I first did my research online then hit up some of the brick and mortar stores on Commercial Drive: Joe Tahan's, Raymour and Flanigan and Metro Mattress. What a jerk did we come across in the Metro Mattress location next to olive garden.
I enter the store and ask him about a few specific mattresses I'm interested in. He gave me a very forced speel about the history of the company and how its local, when i'm trying to make it really obvious to him he needs to sell me on the mattress and the price... not the damn company.
We did the usual try out various mattress styles and the salesmen was OK at first, but not very good at his job, not very smooth and kinda pushy. I notice the price of the King-Sized Simmons BeautyRest listed at 2400$, literally 1000 dollars more then the same mattress down the road (under a different store-specific model name). I let him continue on with his various pitches, when I go to leave things took a turn for the worst.
He basically refuses to let me leave, saying things like "So which one are you gonna choose?" and "This is a one stop shop I don't understand why you need to go elsewhere". He says these in a really insulting tone making me feel really unconformable. He then proceeded to insult the rest of the competitor stores on commercial drive saying Joe Joe Tahan's sells "Chinese Style" whatever that means (they have the same Sterns and Foster as anyone else). Raymour doesn't really sell mattresses because they are a furniture store. Sorry bro, their inventory is at least as large as metro mattress.
I personally worked with Joe at Raymour and Flanigan, but I would recommend ANYONE on commercial drive over the crappy prices and salesman at Metro Mattress. Please do not give them your business because they do...
Read moreEDIT- While the purchasing experience was a breeze- the delivery, not so much. I was told it would be a $20 for old mattress removal, which I readily agreed to (who wouldnât?!?). When we went over the invoice in the store it was said that that $20 was included in the almost $3,000 purchase price. This morning when the gentlemen came to deliver the new mattress, they said they had no record of a removal request and there was no separate line item indicating it on my invoice. I called the personal cell number of the salesman, Sean (which he had stapled to the invoice in case we had âany questionsâ) when I explained the situation, he said âwell since the store doesnât open until 10 am (it was 8:15am), I canât check my records to confirm. Sorry. You could maybe give the guys $20 cash for them to remove the old mattressâ. Iâm sorry, but this doesnât seem like a legitimate business practice. It seems like a scam. It was confirmed multiple times about removal of the old mattress and now you want me to hand over $20 cash to two guys who couldnât get the mattress up our staircase, told me my options were âwe can take it back or you can move your bedroom downstairsâ, and then left the old mattress and the new where they fell. My boyfriend and his boss came home and had the new mattress up the stairs in 5 minutes. I am beyond disappointed in what started out as such a promising experience. Sorry, Metro, Sean, & delivery fellas, but your initial 5 stars have been demoted to 1 because of your lack of professionalism, competency, and care. Once yâall got my money, you didnât care about following through on service.
Sean was an amazing salesperson; he listened to what we were looking for and helped us decide on the best option within our budget. We are thrilled with his help and...
Read moreMy fiancĂ© and I bought a Tempur-pedic mattress with a frame that lifts up at the head and legs. The first mattress we purchased at the New York Mills location, we were kind of rushed into our decision and put on the spot, due to the fact that my fiancĂ© has stage four terminal cancer. We were told that if the mattress wasnât what we had expected, we had the option to exchange it one time. When we tried to make the exchange(we received the mattress on Saturday and tried to make the exchange on Monday)we had some trouble because we were not at all happy with the first mattress we had received. It was a Tempur-pedic hybrid and it was too firm especially with my husband having bone cancer. On top of my fibromyalgia as well as arthritis. But our experience with the New Hartford metro mattress was absolutely wonderful! They did go out of their way to help us and meet our needs. They made sure to make us comfortable with our decision, on top of making sure it was the right mattress that we needed. When you spend $7000 on a mattress and frame you expect it to be comfortable as well as exactly what you need. I would definitely recommend the New Hartford Metro Mattress. If your in need of a new mattress I recommend stopping in the New Hartford store and asking for Pablo! Heâll make sure you leave happy and feeling very well taken care of! Another huge shout out to Alexis! Thank you for setting us up with Pablo and also making sure we felt herd as well as understood! Two really amazing people and we are very grateful to have had them both to help us get things straightened out, as well as us into the right bed! Thank you both so much! You really are...
