Craft Smiles Pediatric Dentistry — Attraction in Town of Newburgh

I don’t usually write reviews, but I felt it was important to share my experience at this dental office today. The office is generally good, has friendly staff, convenient location, and are great with kids. They offer children a comfortable space where they can watch TV shows, wear fun glasses, and even play with squishies throughout their visit. It’s clear they aim to create a welcoming environment for families. However, after our visit and a-lot of reflecting on my part the 3-star rating is due to the dental hygienist, Maria. During our visit, Maria was rude and unprofessional. While I was managing my son and figuring out a pain in his tooth that he had on and off after a procedure, Maria kept interrupting my son and I. I asked my son multiple times to be quiet (saying the actual words “Be Quiet” not shut up) during the visit as I tried figuring everything out with Maria, nothing unusual for a parent to say with a young child entering adolescence. Feeling I was losing my patience with the situation, I then called my husband to switch places with me so I can step out and take a break. Maria then abruptly refused to continue service as I was walking to the waiting room to switch places with my husband following me and telling other staff she would not continue service , falsely stating that I was yelling at my child which I was not. Ironically , Maria was the one shouting in the hallways in front of other families and staff. Maria’s comments and behavior refusing to continue were unnecessary, unprofessional and especially troubling, it made me feel uncomfortable and embarrassed, almost as we were being disciplined as parents, if I was truly behaving in that matter stated I would understand her reaction, but I was certainly not! We could not understand her behavior or where it was coming from. This is why I feel the need to write this review. I found her accusation extremely disturbing. Maria’s unnecessary reaction created a situation that even Dr. Blair had to personally step in to resolve. Leaving Dr.Blair uncomfortable , and embarrassed on behalf of her team. This incident reflects a lack of proper training in professionalism and customer service on Maria’s part, which is disappointing given how great the rest of the team is. This office is supposed to be a safe space for children and parents, and I sincerely hope this issue is addressed so other patients don’t have to experience this kind of behavior from a member of the patient care team. The rest of the staff have been kind and polite. For future visits we will be making sure we request a different hygienist to ensure a more positive visit, as other team members have shown far more patience and care. DR. Dr. Lauren is an exceptional dentist when it comes to treating pediatric patients. From the moment we stepped into her office, we were greeted with warmth and kindness that immediately put my child at ease.

She had a wonderful way of explaining procedures in a gentle and child-friendly manner, ensuring that my child understood what was happening every step of the way. This helped alleviate any fears or anxieties my child had about visiting the dentist.

One of the things that impressed me the most about Dr. Lauren was her creativity in making dental visits a fun experience. She had a beautifully decorated pediatric area, filled with colorful and engaging toys, which immediately caught my child's attention. Dr. Lauren took the time to interact with my child, making the dental visit feel more like an adventure rather than a daunting task.

During the examination, Dr. Lauren displayed great patience and attentiveness, making sure my child felt comfortable throughout the entire process. She utilized child-friendly techniques and tools to ensure a painless and stress-free experience. Dr. Lauren's expertise and professionalism were evident in her ability to handle even the most challenging cases with ease and grace.

Not only was Dr. Lauren outstanding with the children, but her staff also deserves praise. The entire team was friendly, accommodating, and genuinely caring towards the little patients. They went above and beyond to create a positive environment and provided excellent support to both children and parents.

Dr. Lauren's dedication to pediatric dentistry truly shines through in every aspect of her practice. She understands the unique needs of children and has a remarkable ability to establish trust and rapport with her young patients. Whether it's a routine check-up or a more complex procedure, I can confidently say that Dr. Lauren is the perfect dentist for children.

I have not taken my daughters to the same dentist since they were born. Why? Because we never have a good experience. Either the customer service is bad or the dentist simply does not have the patience. One of my daughters has anxiety going to any doctor so that makes it even more difficult for us. I found myself switching dentist every time. Luckily a coworker told me about Craft Smiles and let me just say WOW. First of all, they make you feel welcome from the moment you walk in. The staff are so patient and encouraging. The way Kenia was able to get my 6 year old (the one with anxiety) to relax and not be scared was unbelievable! I thought okay here is one good staff member that can potentially keep us here, and then Dr.Blair walks in and she is literally everything you want a pediatric dentist to be. After that first visit one year ago, both of my daughters kept asking when can they go back. What?! Never would I have imagined them asking to go to the dentist because they like it.
