I am not one to normally write reviews, however in this case, the experience that I had at Red Hots Spa in Roslyn warrants one. This was my first time at Red Hots (and my last). I booked a 50 minute Swedish massage. When I arrived, I was shown into their changing area and given a locker and a robe along with plastic slippers. The "changing area" is really not a changing area unless you are okay with stripping down in front of strangers. There are no individual/private changing rooms, so the only recourse was to go into one of the two bathrooms and try to balance removing my clothes and shoes, with no place to put my clothing, all while trying to not step on the bathroom floor. Not a great beginning to what was to be a relaxing experience. Once I had changed, I came back out into the lobby area and was shown into a waiting area and a massage therapist brought over a heated neck roll to wear prior to my service. (They tried to sell me one when I was checking out). A few minutes later, the same massage therapist came to get me and walked me to the room. She did not introduce herself, so I asked her for her name. Suzanne. I followed her to the very back of the spa. We walked into a large room that was set up with 2 massage beds for a possible couples massage. The room had no ambiance. It was a cold room with a warmed up bed, which appeared to be more of a storage room with a few things thrown in to try to make it "spa like". The massage was not great. I get regular massages so I have many experiences to compare to. The massage was not one from a trained masseuse, but more like what I would do if my husband asked me for a massage. Many times during the massage, she would massage my back with one hand while she was leaning on the table with the other. During the first half of the massage while I was laying on my stomach, she proceeded to massage each of my buttocks for about 3 minutes each. I should have said something but didn't. In my experience, that is an area that a massage therapist asks permission to massage and generally only if the client has complained about pain from a sciatic nerve condition. The worst part of the massage came when I turned over onto my back. Suzanne sat on a stool right behind my head to massage my neck and shoulders. She was breathing through her mouth directly onto my face. Not only is that an issue in terms of basic cleanliness and not sharing germs, but to make matters worse her breath was absolutely horrific. I had to breathe through my mouth so that I didn't smell it and start to gag. Normally, when a massage ends, I wonder where the time went and wish it could go a bit longer. In this case, I was relieved and couldn't wait to get out of there. I'm truly sorry to have to write such a review and it is never my intention to say anything personal about anyone, but I do think that the facility should be aware of not only the perceptions by clients of what could be improved, but specifically what it's like to have a massage with this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf youāre looking to waste yours or someone elseās time, or feel like letting yourself or someone else down, then look no further. The āsignature massageā and āageless facialā were literally the worst āpamperingā I have ever experienced in my entire life. It was something I was REALLY looking forward to on my birthday. As a mom of two boys under two years old and someone who NEVER treats herself to anything, this was going to be much needed and well deserved. First of all, I can give myself a better massage. For 80 mins I laid there while someone smeared some oily lotion on me. There were times where I couldnāt even feel what she was doing. It was actually the opposite of relaxing because all of could think of was the money I had just spent being flushed down the toilet. The facial was just as bad. Iāve gotten facials elsewhere before with microdermabrasion and they were relaxing and enjoyable. This was nothing short of miserable and I have BRUISES on my face a few hours later from being tortured. Iām only 5ā2 and a size 4, thereās no reason why I shouldnāt have felt the massage. Iām not a 6 ft 250 lb bodybuilder whoās solid muscle. Iāve gotten better massages after a mani pedi. And as far as the facial goes, it too was an epic waste of money. I shouldnāt have listened to my husband telling me to pamper myself for my birthday. I would have had a better, more relaxing time at home with my family rather than wasting 3 hours of my life and pissing a couple of hundred dollars down the drain. Thank you Red Hot Spa for ruining...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy friend and I came for massages. The spa facility was ok/good, itās like a cheap space that they tried to make look and feel high end. I specifically booked a deep tissue massage and asked for someone with good/deep pressure. The massage was not good, it served its purpose for an hour of relaxing music with dim lights and nice aromatherapy but that was the extent of it. The massage therapist asked me about areas of focus and problem points. I said I donāt like my legs being massaged and prefer to focus on neck back and shoulderā¦.she insisted whole body. I understand the pitch and that itās probably annoying to do one area for an hour but I am paying for the hour and I should receive the focus and therapy for the hour I am paying for. I do not feel that the therapist could feel the tension areas to work them out. I mean even the nail salon technicians find them and work them out in a massage chair, so this experience was disappointing. As I mentioned I asked for deep pressure in a deep tissue session and I could feel the tension in her hands but it never came to ther surface of my body in the massage it was like she was straining her hands to give impression of tension but no pressure...
