Kyma restaurant is in a perfect location in the more upscale neighborhood of Roslyn Long Island, because unless in a neighborhood like this no one would go. Prices are for the more upscale clientele or at least the lucky enough to afford a place like this. Driving into the valet parking they take your quick, they are curtious and polite. We were slightly early and told the 3 Hosts and Hostesses waiting inside the foyer, that being early we would gladly sit at the bar. To my surprise they assured me it was ok, and said they would seat us now. We noticed outdoor dining so we asked if we could sit there, they said certainly let us fix you a table, in 3 minutes we were sitting down ordering our drinks. Great atmosphere, large rectangular bar inside the restaurant took up what looked like 2 rooms because of the middle bar was actually the wall seperating 2 dining area's, great concept. Two liquor drinks and a glass of white wine was $50.00, slightly overly expensive when given the fact the bottle of Gin I can buy for $20 and the bottle of wine that the glass came from I can buy for $10. Greek Restaurant with somewhat large portions but then again you pay the price. We had those 3 drinks only and 4 appetizers and 2 coffees and a piece of cake with tax the total was a little over $150 without tip of course. The best part of the apps we ate was the Greek tomatoe salad $20 and the Eggplant and Zucchini chips with dipping sauce $18 both were enough for 2 people to share. Leaving the place we noticed people coming and going, the bar area seemed like a nice single scene with very much a mixed croud of men and women of all ages. Smoking section outside with couches next to the valet parking. All cars that were more of the upscale type, Range Rovers, Mercedes, Lexus, etc, were in the main parking lot right outside. If you happened to have a less expensive car the valet ran across the main parking area to the other side of what looked like a church and got the people their car. Enough said, but mind you everyone was polite, kind, and curtious, and our waiter Rob...
Read moreOur recent dinner at Kyma in Roslyn was a reminder of why we keep coming back—despite a rocky start, the food and ambiance ultimately delivered a stellar experience.
The evening began with a slight hiccup. We arrived for our reservation but were told our table wasn’t ready and were directed to the bar. Not a major issue, but when we got there, we had to actively flag down the bartender just to order drinks—there was no greeting or acknowledgment, which made the start of the night feel a bit off. After enjoying a few sips, we were informed our table was ready, but oddly, we had to close out our tab at the bar instead of having the drinks transferred to our dinner bill. What should’ve been a quick transition turned into another 15-minute delay as we struggled again to get the bartender’s attention, with no help from the host who had simply walked away. At that point, we were more than ready to eat.
Thankfully, the meal more than made up for the rough start.
We decided to do an appetizer-style dinner and ordered a variety of dishes: calamari, Kyma chips, keftedes, halloumi, and a traditional Greek salad. Every dish was outstanding—fresh, perfectly seasoned, and beautifully plated. The flavors were bright and authentic, with each plate offering something special.
The true standout of the night wasn’t even food—it was the Winter Bees Knees. This cocktail was incredible: balanced, smooth, and so flavorful that it’s now my go-to drink. I’ll definitely be trying to recreate it at home.
In the end, despite the initial service hiccups, the food and overall dining experience reminded us why Kyma remains a favorite. The service once seated was top-tier, the dishes didn’t miss, and we left full and...
Read moreWe stopped at the restaurant this past Sunday at about 2:45 pm and asked if we needed a reservation. We were told it would be no problem for a party of two. We were there for a late Sunday brunch. It was the Greek Easter celebration, which we did not know.
We were taken to a small table that was very close to a table of about 20, with 5 or 6 children at the end of the table about 3 feet away from us. We ordered cocktails and made note of the fact that there weren't many pandemic plastic dividers in the restaurant. This was our first time going out to a restaurant in over a year.
As children will do, the kids at the next table laughed and screamed, and although I love kids, it was a little too close and loud, so we asked for another table.
We were taken to another small table, which was dirty (as were the chairs), and we looked through the menu by downloading it. The brunch menu was not available because of the holiday, but a wonderful easter dinner was being offered. We were not there for a large and expensive 3 course meal so I asked if I could order a beef burger. Nope. That's on the brunch menu and by now it was after 3:00.
We decided to finish and pay for our wine, and find someplace else to have a Sunday afternoon meal. When the maitre de came over to make things right, he was very gracious and offered to buy us lunch, which of course we refused because we didn't want to eat there. We allowed him to pay for our drinks. We left the waiter $10 and we gave the valet $5.
The place wasn't that crowded. It was very noisy with beautiful tile covering the floors and walls. I feel they could have accommodated me somehow, but they just...
