We came here again as a group for restaurant week. The food is excellent generally and the restaurant week menu was very generous with a wide selection of choices and ample portions. Try the mussels appetizer in the red sauce. They were unusually plump and juicy. Everyone enjoyed their entree selections of pasta, duck, lamb shank and pot roast. The sides of mashed sweet potatoes or garlic white potatoes were fluffy and delicious. The veggies were perfectly cooked. There was a very generous selection of different desserts which were excellent across the board. The wait staff was attentive and we never felt rushed. Obviously this place cares about the customer dining experience and manages reservations perfectly. There is valet parking under the viaduct, a few steps away, or you can park on the street directly behind Maria's and walk up to it through its rear property. But watch signs for parking restrictions. Ambiance and noice level were average. The only complaint we had was a first. It was uncomfortably warm and somewhat stuffy. It seemed that there was no air conditioning or very little. We had 2 vents overhead which apparently were not pushing out air. The wait staff did try to address the room temperature, and there was a slight improvement. I recommend you come to experience this restaurant in charming historical Roslyn village. If you do it for restaurant week, all the better.

We had a so-so experience. The service was very good as were our meals. My chief complaint was that all of the utensils & glassware were not clean...they were VERY spotty... you couldn't wipe that away with your napkin. Also the wooden handled knives give us for our main courses were pitiful. Small, over-used wooden handles that I'd have tossed out of my own kitchen long before I put it down on any table. These details matter and it is either a lack of staff training or management not overseeing the details that count at an establishment that wants to be seen as a providing a higher level dining experience.

Such a quaint cozy restaurant! Service was so accommodating, kind and patient! Food was delicious! My mom and I booked my bridal shower at Diane’s, but we wanted to come for dinner and try the food! And it was so so good! We ordered the filet of sole Milanese and the carbonara! 10/10!

We visited Diane’s on Friday evening. We were six people. After ordering 6 cocktails, we ordered a bottle of white wine. it was warm. We asked for a white wine that was chilled, the manager said he did not know what white wine was cold. We ordered a different bottle, and had it put on ice. We waited and waited. Had to ask for it to be poured. The apps arrived. The iceberg wedge, was not a wedge - three small pieces of lettuce. The grilled artichokes were undercooked and tasteless. no seasoning, no olive oil, no flavor. Now for entrees. Three entrees arrived. We waited, and waited. Asked our server for the other three. She said the ‘runner’ will bring them. In the meantime, we did not have new utensils - the forks and knives were taken away when they cleared them with the apps.. The busboy brought utensils we had to ask for them - threw the fork and knife on the left side of table setting, together! The other three entrees arrive - lamb chops ordered medium rare, arrived well-done. in addition, 2 came with the order and an extra chop was ordered when order placed. Only 2 arrived - not eatable. The tuna looked like a bad hamburger, could not be eaten. The fettucine bolognese was overcooked, not too much overcooked, but enough that it was OVERCOOKED! I can go on and on. The sorbet was awful - icy, icy, icy! Our server took the tuna off the check - it doesn’t matter. Our guest left the restaurant hungry - A terrible dining experience. You go to a restaurant to have a fun night, with good food, service and wine. Nothing good to say about our night at Diane’s. Too much work to get bad food delivered. Simply stated a...

The Long Island restaurant scene has changed drastically. There used to be great value and charm on the North Shore. All that has been replaced with deafeningly loud cookie cutter corporate expense account bland steakhouses and see and be seen tacky meet markets where the shrieking Real Housewives of Nassau County, recently divorced, liposuctioned and botoxed, gather desperately at the bar. Thank heavens for an escape to Diane's, a beautiful, sophisticated charmer with top notch food. Their bread basket is amazing, all of their pastas are home made and excellent, their salads delicious, their chicken under a brick and Tuscan Pot roast excel, and their fish is simply done and clearly well sourced. Their $31.95 Prix Fixe, served in generous portions with multiple options without "upcharges" is certainly the best deal in Nassau County. Service is pleasant and professional, never pushy. Desserts are always superb. Diane is after all a world class baker. We've been coming here for years and travelling from the city to do it. Whether it's following a day at the Fine Arts Museum, Planting Fields, visiting beautiful Old Roslyn Village, celebrating a Holiday or special family event or just shopping the Americana, Diane's is always at the top...
