I'm writing this review as a long-time customer who truly appreciates your establishment. I've been to your deli many times, and I always enjoy the welcoming atmosphere and the excellent service. It's clear that the manager and owner are dedicated, and your staff genuinely seem happy to be there, which really contributes to a positive customer experience. Unfortunately, there are lots of instances where the higher pricing is not accordingly reflected in the quality of the sandwich or meal. My recent order, a $16 Philly cheesesteak wrap, prompted me to share some thoughts regarding the food preparation. The points made in this review apply across the board to all the different meals i have had from here. While I understand that the items are priced at a premium, which is perfectly acceptable for a "gourmet" sandwich, the execution of this particular wrap left a bit to be desired (a recurrent feeling from most of my meals from here). I was expecting a vibrant and well-integrated Philly cheesesteak experience. What I received was unseasoned beef, and onions and peppers that weren't grilled, all layered with barely melted American cheese into a wrap that felt disproportionately filled with wrap rather than the core ingredients. A classic Philly cheesesteak often benefits from the ingredients being mixed together to meld the flavors, rather than simply layered. The beef, while not dry, lacked the flavor I've come to expect, and the ungrilled vegetables contributed to a less satisfying texture and taste profile. I believe this might be an opportunity to refine training protocols, particularly around the precise preparation of each menu item. Sandwich making, in many ways, is an art form that delicately balances texture, flavor, and temperature. Whether ingredients are best layered or mixed is key to creating that perfect bite. Focused training on these culinary nuances could ensure consistency and elevate the quality of every dish across the board. Some sandwiches are ideal with layered ingredients and others, are best when mixed with all of the flavors. This wrap’s Ingredients were all clearly cooked separately and not mixed for the flavor to enter the beef. The beef was not dry, but it was definitely lacking flavor. This leads to a lackluster flavor and texture profile. This Is meant to be constructive as I know the managers and Owner care about their customer experience. I think some more targeted and effective training in preparing the foods specifically will lead to excellent quality food across the board. I would like to finish by reiterating that all the workers are very pleasant and welcoming and the customer experience is great. Hence my 5 star rating for atmosphere...
Read moreIt's dawned on me that I don't think I've left this place a review. I've only been here twice and both times were positive. In fact, they have the best pastrami sandwich I've ever eaten and I hold every other deli or restaurant up to the standard they've set. To this day I think about that sandwich from time to time and lament that I am a five hour drive away.
More importantly, as an out of towner who has family in Long Island, this place never made me feel less than as a customer just because I wasn't a local. Like most businesses, I do get a feeling that regular guests have a rapport but I felt immediately at home in this space. Spending lots of time on the south shore as a kid I have many happy memories of visiting places just like this one. We have some good delis up here in Maine but nothing really comes close to a NY deli. They certainly have us beat!
Ever since my partner (now husband) and I found ourselves a few years ago while on a drive along the north shore, it's remained a beloved memory of ours. I don't know if it was the owner or another staff member who made my sandwich the last time we went, but they asked if I wanted it all the way and I believe this resulted in grilled onions and mustard on the sandwich, which was so good and something I have since added whenever I make one at home. If thats something I can still add whenever I'm there next I look forward...
Read moreI purchased a Caesar salad wrap for my daughter lunch who goes to Roslyn High School, she ate the wrap and bit in to a piece of glass, she went to the school nurse and they found two more pieces of glass in the wrap, when I learned about it I called Delicacies and told them the story, the manager told me to come back and get my money I told her it's not about the money I don't want anyone else to get hurt so check your salad, her response was "no I don't have to check the salad because we've been selling it the whole day and no one complained, just bring the wrap and I will give you your money back" I honestly don't understand how can a business who respect it self will treat customers this way, all I wanted is an apology and for them to pull the contaminated salad off the shelf so no one gets hurt. Anyway I went back with the wrap showed them the glass and i hope for everyone else's sake , they took the salad off the shelf. they called me the next day apologizing for what happend, they finally checked the salad and found the pieces of what they said was cheese container that broke, like it makes any difference, the manager invited me to lunch on them ( like i will ever eat there), thanks, but I...
