Main Library - University of Arizona: A Bastion of Knowledge and Creativity in the Heart of Tucson The Main Library at the University of Arizona is more than just a repository of books; it's a vibrant hub of intellectual discourse, creative exploration, and academic support. Stepping through its doors, you're instantly transported to a world of knowledge and inspiration.

The library boasts a stunning architectural design, blending modern elements with classic features to create a space that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. The light-filled atrium, soaring ceilings, and comfortable seating areas invite you to linger and explore.

Beyond the physical beauty, the library's true strength lies in its vast collection of resources. From scholarly journals and academic texts to rare manuscripts and special collections, the library caters to diverse needs and interests. The knowledgeable and friendly staff are always on hand to assist you in navigating the library's resources and finding the information you seek.

The Main Library is not just a place for quiet study; it's also a dynamic center for collaboration and creativity. The library offers a variety of spaces for students and researchers to work together, brainstorm ideas, and share their knowledge. Group study rooms, technology labs, and multimedia studios provide the tools and resources needed to bring projects to life.

For those seeking intellectual stimulation beyond the academic realm, the library hosts a variety of events throughout the year. From author talks and book readings to film screenings and lectures, these events offer opportunities for learning, engagement, and connection with the wider community.

Whether you're a student seeking academic support, a scholar conducting research, or simply a curious individual looking to explore new ideas, the Main Library at the University of Arizona has something to offer you. It's a place where knowledge is shared, creativity is nurtured, and lifelong learning is encouraged.

Overall, the Main Library is an invaluable resource for the University of Arizona community and the Tucson community at large. It's a sanctuary for learning, a catalyst for innovation, and a true gem of the city.

Here are some of the key features of the Main Library:

Extensive collection of print and electronic resources Knowledgeable and friendly staff Quiet study areas Group study rooms Technology labs and multimedia studios Variety of events and programs Beautiful and welcoming environment I highly recommend visiting the Main Library if you're ever in Tucson. It's a truly special place that will leave you inspired...

Library staff do not reprimand. Some people come here and simply sit around and do nothing--no book, no computer, they just sit which makes me a little uncomfortable. One man comes in every day and takes his shoes and socks off (EEEK!!). Another was just sitting with his shirt off? From the East Coast, went to an Ivy League university which had multiple libraries that everyone was using all the time, all built during the 1700s with brick and beautiful mahogany inside--they were works of art and obviously the main campus attraction--not the same vibe here. BUT I get my work done just fine, I guess I just wish people would use it as more of an actual library than community center. The space itself has lots of light which I really appreciate, large windows. Please just respect the space and others...keep your feet in your shoes where they belong, keep your top on, etc. And maybe if the library could come up with an actual set of observable rules and enforce them that...

Sub-standard library. They made a decision to de-prioritize books, and move toward a technology center model. In my field (art history) they aren't keeping current with new publications, and have de-accessioned part of their collection. Many books are in poor condition. The Science Library where science, art, and music books are located has more limited hours than the Main Library, and is often closed. If you're a visiting scholar expect to be treated very poorly. For digital research you're relegated to a small confined area in the basement of the Main Library patronized mainly by the local homeless population. Staff at the library seems disinterested or reluctant to help, or not knowledgeable. After de-accessioning part of their collection (periodicals), the first floor of the Main Library was recently converted into a...
