Nick’s TV Repair provides an invaluable service at a modest price. In a matter of a second, our LG TV had changed from a fully functional entertainment device to a dust collector with a black screen and no sound. The only thing that still worked on the TV was the power light.
After some frustrating experiences with a local repair man who claimed the power board was to blame for our TV’s problem, someone advised me that it was no doubt the main board. I quickly found that because of what must be a policy of planned obsolescence to push the newer ultra HD models, LG does not sell a new main circuit board for our model LG 55LW5600 anymore, even though we bought it new only six years ago. When I went on the Internet to try to buy a used board, I found that when I could find the board, sellers consistently had policies of no returns and no warranties. Of course it made little sense for me to buy a board without warranty whose age might have predisposed it to the same type of failure that ours suffered and which might be damaged in transport and yet could not be returned.
Instead, it seemed the most sensible choice would be to send the module through ebay to Nick’s TV Repair in Tucson, AZ because, besides a high customer satisfaction report of completed repairs and a very reasonable price, they offered a year’s warranty on work done. They also offered to test the board to make sure it needed repair in the first place, and if it did not, they would return it for only postage and a reasonable “restocking fee.”
After sending the board to Nick’s, I found them to be diligent in keeping me updated by email on the progress of the repair and exactly what state our board was in at the time. I received the repaired board back in a reasonable amount of time and after reinstalling it, to our great satisfaction, our TV was again fully functional. Nick’s truly saved us from the great expense and frustration we would have experienced had we decided to buy a new TV. Our model has 3D capabilities, which we truly enjoy, and which all of the manufacturers have stopped offering on their new TVs.
The only criticisms I have of Nick’s are trivial. Their stated policy is that the “turn around” time for a board sent to them is three to five days. The policy is stated somewhat vaguely and it is not clear exactly when the countdown would begin. If the countdown begins on the first day it is tested to attain its functional status, the repair took seven days, including packing for return shipment. Also, I found Nick’s explanation of exactly what was done during the repair process to be a bit ambiguous. Nick informed me that they had replaced the FCBGA chip. I had to question him further to find out that this was not a new but a refurbished chip. When I asked him where he got the chip, whether it was our original chip or from another board, I never received an answer. However, in comparison to these minor negative experiences, the positive benefits we received by sending our main board to Nick’s were of a much...

My Vizio TV started having power on problems and then wouldn't power on. After researching the problem and diagnosing that the power board was causing the problem, this led me to the videos from Nick's TV on YouTube. They offer advice on how to correct the problem or a way to send the board to them for repair if you don't have the equipment, time or expertise to fix it yourself.
I saw the initial problem as the video indicated; however, there may be some other underling issue that I wasn't trained for to see or recognize.
I went to their website and saw my board there with a price for repair at $64.95 and an extra $10 for return shipping.
You first purchase the repair/service you want They will send you an email with instructions on how to package and send to them. They will invite you to make an account to track your item and to upload or document any symptoms or problems (Do it). They will advise you when they receive it and inspect it to make sure it isn't broke or damaged from the shipping A pre-diagnosis or test bed may occur (mine did) to validate problems you may have noted Repairs are made or info about the repair is sent to you
Before I purchased the service, I called and Nick answered the phone. He also answered all my questions on time to turn around and packaging. I sent the package Priority mail to them. In 2 days after they received it, I received another email (also on the account they had me make) showing the arrival of my package and inspection of the board and let me know that there was no damage due to shipping.
I received another email 3 days later stating that the board was tested on a test bed to validate the claim I was making and diagnosed for the problem. The email also said that the required parts were not available and had already been ordered prior to the repair and if I want to email or call to inquire about the delay I could. So, I called and one of the Techs told me that they were expecting the parts and he was going to send a message to the "On-Line" team to inquire how long of a delay was anticipated. He said he would call me or have someone call/email with the info my the end of the day. I received an email that evening stating they finished the repair and mailed the board back.
I received the return in 2 days after. The package was really great!! Very well packaged and wrapped. I installed the power board back in and everything worked like a charm. No issues. I see on the board the capacitors that I thought were bad were replaced. Very clean and professional repair job performed. No documentation on the repair, only a sheet of paper with a checkbox for the board that said successful repair had been completed and please leave a review.
Overall, I am very happy with the repair that saved a $1000 TV. Time from shipping to return was 2 weeks and 2 days. (They don't work on weekends, so be patient)

I’ll try to keep this as short as possible and to the point but I would highly recommend thinking twice before using Nicks for your TV repair. If you have any issues after they’ve “repaired” your TV they will not help you. Their so called “1 year warrantee” comes at your cost of shipping again and all together their customer service after payment was terrible and non existent.
What’s most troubling about my experience with them is they really don’t even act like they care, their employees talk over you and raise their voice to you (which I was really surprised by), they act like it’s your fault the TV isn’t working and offer little to no support after their service. They don’t even want to talk to you on the phone, I was told to email them my issues (that should be a big red flag to anyone thinking of using a company that requests email support over a phone call). Their easy cop out response again and again was “we live tested it before it left and it worked”. Their instructions were very detailed they sent with the board on how to pair it, very specific but very basic, not difficult. I’m an A&P licensed aircraft mechanic, I fix airliners that millions of people trust their lives with for a living so I’m pretty competent at following written instructions.
You would think after spending $200 they would take a little bit of pride in helping their customers with support. After days of waiting to speak with a tech (guys that answer the phones can’t answer technical questions apparently) and weeks of not having a TV for my family, I finally took my TV to a reputable local shop for a second opinion. I paid $80 and they diagnosed my issue as the main board not booting. Nicks requested to talk to the local shop so I gave them the info and they called them, when they called me back after talking to the local shop they actually had the nerve to tell to me that the local shop is lying about their diagnosis. Long story short, $280 later, I don’t have a working TV and what’s maybe even more disappointing about the situation is their complete lack of concern for the service they provided.
Just all around terrible experience which is crazy from all the positive reviews Nicks has, maybe they’re fabricated reviews, idk, but it sure seems like it from the experience I’ve had. My TV was 5 years old so I ended up upgrading to an $1800 OLED because of my frustration, plus the $280 worth of waste for my now paper weight that I’m just done with. Exhausting/frustrating situation. I would just find a local shop...
