07/06/2023: I’d like to start off by saying, I’ve been searching for an apartment for the last few months. I’ve visited Vermella Union’s property before and was wowed. All the apartments I’ve been to don’t compare and my spirit and energy over the year kept bringing me back to this location. Last years leasing agent told me to wait until you see Sol Vermella. So… I waited. I received a promotion at work in July of last year and said let me look into Sol Vermella. Last years agent was right! It was well worth the wait.
Now I may be impatient on some things, the tour was great, and the agent gave advice that was good and crucial to Sol’s application process. After following the agents advice, I now have already notified my current complex of me ending my tenure as their tenant by August 1st. The leasing agent at Sol was able to confirm that move in date. I’ve received a quote for movers and have boxed up all things in my apartment; and already moved a large lump sum of funds over specifically designated for Sol Vermella.
What kills the five star rating, is the delay or lack of communication. When calling, hardly anyone is available and there’s only an option to leave a message. When reaching out to the leasing agent, there’s hardly a response or an update, or the response will come a day or two later. Which is not good because August 1st will be here before you know it. If it goes into August and I’m still in my current apartment, then I’m obligated to pay rent for possibly two places.
I can’t tell anyone to do their job. It’s not my place. What I can advise as a corporate worker and someone focused on the customer experience is to provide better communication for future tenants and current tenants. Seeing the reviews for Vermella are somewhat promising.. and at the same time, I’m feeling like my business to be a tenant isn’t wanted or maybe I’m not getting the apartment… I don’t know, especially after completing the application, with documentation submitted, identification emailed to the agent and paying $1000 deposit aka hold.
Again, I’d love to be apart of a growing community and tenant of Sol Vermella/Vermella Union. It’s close to work, it’s close to my mother, and it fits the lifestyle I’m living and looking to live in the future.I just wished the...
Read moreLiving at SOL by Vermella has come with both highs and lows. On the positive side, my family and I have been fortunate to build real community here with other families and friends. We’ve hosted many community-only al fresco dinners to celebrate birthdays and milestones, and our neighbors have been an incredible support system—watching our kids when we have meetings and vice versa. These relationships are something we will undoubtedly carry with us well beyond the property walls. Maintenance has also been a bright spot—super responsive and helpful, especially Ben and Manny.
However, there are serious challenges. Some security and concierge staff consistently treat Black and Brown residents differently than white residents, and the bias is hard to ignore. Even when having a quiet dinner outside without music, security will—without fail—approach us around 10pm and attempt to move us indoors. At the pool and courtyard, residents are told they can’t play music even though speakers are installed outside, and enforcement is not consistent—Black and Brown residents are told to stop while others are not addressed.
For $5,000 a month for a 3-bedroom apartment marketed as part of a “lifestyle community” with premium amenities, the experience has been mixed. Sometimes, instead of being able to fully enjoy the amenities we’re promised, we’re left feeling policed and uncomfortable in our own community. For the price and the way this property brands itself, the treatment of residents by some has to get better.
That said, I do want to acknowledge that the Property Manager was very responsive to my initial review and emailed me the very next day to hear more about my concerns and experiences. That level of customer service and prompt follow-up suggests there is a higher level of care and commitment to residents at the management level. Still, more work is needed—especially in training concierge and security staff on how to equitably and respectfully interact with all residents—so that the everyday experience of living here matches the promise and price tag of this community. (Initial...
Read moreOn the morning of Friday December 27 my boyfriend’s car was broken into INSIDE the building’s garage. His wallet with some cash was stolen and the building has yet to manifest to do anything. No sense of urgency in assisting when a robbery happened INSIDE their property. We called the cops, a police report was filed, finger prints have run and it’s December 30th, three days later and the building has yet to follow up on the footage. The garage which you need a key fob to get in, was either broken into or worse, their own resident is breaking into their neighbors car and the building is not caring that this is happening. There are several cameras in the garage and the management team has not said a word regarding the footage, besides telling my boyfriend to “call his car insurance” WHAT DOES THE CAR INSURANCE HAVE TO DO WITH A ROBBERY THAT HAPPENED INSIDE THE PROPERTY. It’s absurd to me that we pay so much for a tiny studio, that we can’t even feel safe because not only is this happening inside the property but the management team is not even doing the bare minimum to make sure that they are doing everything in their power to assist in this. Last week was my boyfriend’s car, are they waiting for the next victim to be an actual resident? I come visit my boyfriend often and now I feel unsafe and it’s all because the management is ALLOWING these people to do these acts and get away with it. It’s ridiculous that a few weeks ago, the management team sent out a massive email advising that residents can no longer have doormats outside but has been extremely QUIET in regards to a robbery happening inside their property, causing their residents to be in danger. We will not be quiet about this until something is done, until the management team cooperated with the law enforcement, until a thorough investigation is done because whoever did this should not be living here. If you’re thinking about moving here, please ask the leasing office their protocols if a robbery were tô happen, how they would assist you and your family prior to signing...
