Rudy's Jewelry Repair — Attraction in Universal City

Been going to this place for years never had any problems, I took a ring and some bracelets over a month ago and I was told that I would be called back with an estimate. I called almost a month later. My ring is not done, he would not give me the price or ETA , all I got was a lot of attitude and a dial tone in my face. I’m getting a lot of attitude because he’s busy, but he never called me with an estimate or a price… now after a month, my ring is finally done… he calls me today to pick it up would not let me speak, was extra rude and told me that if I did not pick it up today, he would charge me an extra $20 and hung up the phone in my face and will not let me speak. So this will be the last time I bring him anything because all he’s been is rude and he’s hung up on me three times when I’ve done nothing wrong and he’s the one that’s had my stuff for a month with attitude… Not one call in a month, nothing. When I called him, he knew nothing about what I was talking about. I had my ticket number. He cannot find my stuff and but yet, somehow, this is turned into my fault. if he has an issue with you, he’s gonna charge you what he wants and I have to pay the extra fee it or else I will not...

I used to take my wedding ring to the place where we bought it from and it had a small crack and was also discoloring. They wouldn't even give me an estimate on a price but they had that look that made you feel like it would be very expensive. Fast forward to last week. I hammered my ring while it was on my finger like a dummy and It went from round to square. After hearing the scary news about my ring before, I thought for sure that Rudy was going to tell me that it was time for a new ring. He inspected the ring and told it would only be 30 bucks! I then asked him about recoloring it so it would be a nice white gold again and he told me that my ring didn't know that. I was puzzled because I was told by my previous big name retailer that the ring needed to be recolored etc. Rudy told me that " he wouldn't mind taking my money, but it doesn't need it!" He told told me that he will polish it after cutting my ring, welding it back together and resizing it. I thought it was too good to be true. Well, he was right and it looks almost as good as new! 30 bucks later and a 5 dollar tip and I'm as happy as I was on my wedding day. Thanks Rudy! We need more...

The owner is rude and unprofessional. I called one day to check if my jewelry repair was completed because I happen to be passing by their office at the time. Rudy, the owner, answers the phone and says "I'm with a customer let me call you back". He called me back 2 hours later and told me my jewelry was ready for pickup. I explained to him that I was no longer in the area and could not pick it up that day. He became upset and said he was going to double the price of my repair for not picking it up that day. I thought he was joking but he actually did. He accused me of "hounding him" and calling him multiple times for status on my repair but I shared with him my call log showing I only called him that one time. It didn't matter he doubled the price and said he had the right to do that for storage of my jewelry. It was less than a week from the time I dropped off my jewelry to the time I picked it up, 2 days after the repair was completed. I've never seen such unprofessionalism from any company I've ever dealt with. I'll never use Rudy's Jewelry Repair again nor would I recommend Rudy to anyone.
