Gym is good and staff members are overall great people. This one star review is a directed towards the "personal trainer" whom the other staff members refer to as "Will". My brother and I took up the one time free personal training time/trial offered by the gym during the initial membership sign-up with City Sports Club, and we got Will as our personal trainer. Initial experience with Will was great until we got to the end of the training session and got to the sign up portion for a personal trainer. I told Will that I wanted to think about it since it was an extra $210 charge on top of the gym membership fee. This is not in any means an issue with financial constraints as it is more of an issue with time constraints with my work schedule. At this point Will proceeded to start really pushing his personal trainer package towards myself, even though I repeated that I wanted to think about it multiple times. He pushed towards the point where he already had me signing my initials on a contract which he would not allow me to properly read nor get a copy prior to putting down my initials. He then proceed to entice me with an "UNDER THE TABLE" agreement about being able to sign up for the contract and cancelling it within 30 days in order to get a "free personal trainer" try-out within the set time. When I asked to see where in the agreement/contract this was mentioned, Will proceeded to highlight a section where it mentions that the contract can be terminated within 30 days under SPECIFIC conditions. During this time I attempted to review these conditions and Will decided to once again push aggressively to take my attention away from the contract. Will then proceeded to bad mouth myself and my younger brother who is an active duty service member currently on leave to see myself and our family before he flies overseas(credentials can and will be provided should the manager wish for it). Stating that my younger brother is at fault for not letting me decided for myself, and that he (Will) wont be receiving a COMMISSION from me since my little brother stood up and said that I WANTED TO THINK ABOUT IT before randomly signing a contract in which I did not know about aside from Will's word of mouth. Myself and my younger brother then proceeded to the front desk and requested for my membership to be terminated in which point Will once again approached us and asked "did we really have to escalate what happened" and then proceeded to let us know that "we wasted his time" as if the try out was not an offering by the gym and made it sound I am indebted to give him...
Read moreGreat variety in equipment. BUT DONT TRUST ANYTHING OR AGREE TO ANYTHING THESE SALE VULTURES TRY TO PITCH AT YOU. LITERAL NIGHTMARE!
Before I ever considered signing up I called to ask about the rates and be walked through it, Will (another person in google reviews seemed to have a not so great encounter with him as well) condescendingly told me that he didn't believe I didn't have 30 minutes out of my day to come and tour the gym. Next day I came in and toured with him. He's not very enthusiastic by any means either. Rushed me through the contract. I'm very new to the gym scene and am a young adult with no prior gym contract experience so It wasn't really great of him to not explain to me in depth and have me quick sign my initials. I was signed up for the VIP membership pass which is basically a pass to allow your friends or family to go to the gym because I wanted people to go with me, come to find out I didn't need to pay for all that. I called recently to get the VIP pass taken off my account and the guy on the phone basically told me I had to let it expire... As a part time student with a part time job paying minimum wage, I don't have the resources available to me to just let monthly payments of $70 just expire on their own for an undetermined amount of time. Email support was great; but while digging deeper into my account sign up and receipts, I noticed my account was upgraded the day after I signed up under a credit card that didn't match the last four digits or expiration date of my own. NOT TO MENTION i'm also paying for the les mills thing without ever having signed up. I'm extremely disappointed. OH and after you sign up you're allowed a free training session with one of the many trainers they have on hand, Will told me he would give me a female trainer because I wasn't comfortable with a male trainer. Guess what happened? I had a male trainer and after a great workout it was excruciatingly awkward to be pitched $200-$600 dollar training sessions and just flat out admitting i'm too poor for it.
The equipment in this place is vast, its always nice to take a run, lift weights, I've yet to try the pool. Please enjoy your workout and fitness journey but don't let these front desk commission hungry vultures rob your money from...
Read moreThe gym is ok, there is an unpleasant odor.
But I wanted to talk about the kids area on this review. I’ve been a member at this gym for almost two years, and during that time, I’ve been consistently bringing my baby to the kids area in hopes of getting him comfortable with the environment. Unfortunately, our experience has never been positive when it comes to the staff working there.
Today was the last straw. I dropped my son off and returned about 10 minutes later to check on him through the glass window. I saw that he was crying, standing next to a staff member named Ann, who was sitting at the computer. I waited for a bit to see if she would comfort him, but she didn’t acknowledge him at all.
I eventually walked in and asked if she planned on comforting him. Her response was, “I tried talking to him.” I pointed out that he was still crying right next to her and she hadn’t done anything to comfort him. She replied, “I’m doing something,” referring to her being on the computer. I was upset and asked, “You couldn’t have had him sit on your lap if the computer was more important than the kids?”
What made the situation worse was that there was another staff member in the room, sitting at the kids’ table doing something alone. She made no effort to step in and help either. My son was clearly upset and received no attention or comfort from either of them.
As a parent, it’s heartbreaking to see your child ignored when they’re in distress especially in a place meant to care for children. I’ve since removed my son from my gym membership and will no longer be bringing him to the kids area.
I hope this feedback encourages better training and attentiveness from the staff working with children. Kids deserve a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment, especially when their parents are trusting others to...
