I am disappointed with this store. Overall had a good experience with the store since they opened, until a concern arose and their customer service skills had to be used. I went to the store and purchased some items I need for a project I was doing for my daughter’s Baby shower. My purchase totaled approximately $56.00. For whatever reason, after paying for the items, I left the store, got in my car and drove away leaving the items in the basket. I went home and started setting up for my project and realized I forgot my items and returned to the store. I spoke to a floor manager, who looked at surveillance cameras and said he didn’t see me at all in the parking lot, despite the cashier confirming I had just left the store. I spoke to another general manager, who looked at the surveillance camera and said he saw my car but couldn’t see if I put something in my car. But he also said that he never saw the cart move or anyone in the area, which is completely ludicrous. I explained to him, I knew I was irresponsible, but explained I was preoccupied, however I also explained I have invested in their company since they opened and was one of their loyalest customers. Steve, who is the general, let me know he was not going to give me anything free, but if I want to spend major money in the store, he would give me a discount. His handling of this matter, left a distaste in my mouth, mainly because he thought very little of the money I have already spent in the store. I am a professional, and work everyday, so I know how important it is to have the support of your community when you are trying to operate a community-based business. When I asked for the information to contact Menards corporate office, I was told by Steve, the general manager, he didn’t have the information and I should search the internet. I called the Menards store in Wixom, who happily provided the information to corporate headquarters and a letter was submitted to them about my complaint.
Steve made me feel like I was a common criminal, with his demeanor, the way he spoke, and his disposition of this matter. My profession is in the law enforcement field, therefore I know if I was trying to scam the store, I would not be so emphatic about trying to get the items replaced. It is my hope the store will do the right thing and support the members of this community that supports them. Do the right...
Read moreDue to power surges from DTE into our home from what we've learned is a transformer low voltage at our pole - we lost our Wifi phone system, three phones, and our sump pump. We have had people in cleaning up our flooded basement from 4" of water. So far $8,000. We have had to purchase Sterlite containers of various sizes. Menards has been $3-$4 higher than Walmart. Tonight we purchased the last 66 quart one they had with a lid. The other 4 had no lids. So we went to Menards and were told they do match Walmart prices but since we told him we purchased the last one with lid he couldn't match discount. Sent us to manager who first denied since she said Walmart only sold in packs of 8 - not true. I said they sell them separately and we purchased the last one and showed our receipt and the $3.00 difference. The manager said since we said they didn't have any she couldn't honor the price. She said we must have purchased something different - we offered to show her the one we bought just outside the door in our van. Nope she wouldn't even give us the courtesy of looking at it. Then she looked at our receipt and said oh yours isn't purple - what does that matter they have purple, black, blue, green just like your store. We asked if we needed to return the one we had so they show a purple inventoried one in stock to save $15! Ridiculous and childish on her part - it seems Menards in Belleville does not value customers. Also, they had no Ameba's available and said one was coming up - but when it came up I had to walk back to the parking lot to get it myself! Having just gotten out of the hospital a few days before it was not fun but couldn't walk all over store.
Having strongly advocated for Menards to come to Belleville, based on a store our friend works at outside St. Louis - I have been nothing but disappointed and avoid it if possible. So far we find it lacking handicap accessibility to and from parking lot. You have to either park in the middle between In and Out doors, long walks to get to products and having no cashiers at both ends. Also they do not honor Veteran discounts and they boast an 11% discount but takes six weeks to get it and it has to be spent within a certain time for another product! That's not a discount - Home Depot matches prices, gives Veterans 10% discount...
Read moreWe went to Menards in Belleville, Michigan to pick up some patio pavers. Unsure of how many we’d need we purchased 20. The girl at the gate asked if we needed help getting them, we said no. We came to our pallet of pavers and found that most on the pallet were badly chipped and broken. We dug through another pallet and found 20 usable pavers and loaded them into our car. We found that 20 weren’t not enough and we needed more. Before we could get back to get more pavers I had knee replacement surgery. My wife returned to Menards the next week and purchased more pavers. The same girl at the gate asked if she needed help with getting them. My wife said yes and the girl radioed someone to help her. My wife waited 10 minutes for help to come, none came. She proceeded to look for good non damaged pavers. (The same pallet of broken pavers that was there the week before was still in the way of the good ones). While my wife was loading the pavers she saw no less than 3 workers head her way only to stop and head the other direction. It then proceeded to start raining and all the workers in the yard ran for cover. At no time in the week preceding the 2nd trip to.Menards could one person take it upon themselves to move the pallet of broken pavers? These pavers are heavy ( probably between 20-35lbs a piece) and have rough edges. My wife has a bad back but, loaded them by herself because nobody came to help her. She wore gloves but, still got 2 cuts on her hand from them. While the damage was minimal it could have been worse. We love Menards and will continue to shop there but, this kind of treatment of customers needs...
