I have walked through the Ft. garden many times. Beautiful any time of the year but especially late spring, summer and fall. The garden is tended and maintained by volunteers and the park service. The Fort Garden has a representative sample of many of the flowers and veggies that would have been grown more than 150 years ago by inhabitants of the Fort and the surrounding inhabitants. Free admission to wander the Garden and surrounding area. The Fort adjacent to the garden requires admission except those with certain passes including the Senior Golden Age Pass. Free Parking is always available for passenger vehicles , large RV's and buses. Final Take--GO and take time to smell the lilacs, daphne and the marigolds( and a lot...

Spectacular breathtaking views of Mt. hood with gorgeous scenery of the Fort with its Historical attraction. Volunteers tend the flower and vegetable heritage garden. Bees loving the poppies. Romantic archways of well established grapevine and heirloom roses enticing scents as you pass under them. Children’s Playground is NE up the hill from the garden. Fort entrance and restrooms are immediately south of garden. Gift Shop is near playground. Check hours beforehand. Plenty of parking great...

Nonetheless, the weathered buildings and fencing proved worth the trip - imbuing an intriguing mix of midwest Americana with panoramic Pacific Northwest hills and evergreens. Fort admission fees are not required, and it serves as a gateway to other surrounding trail...
