They should be deeply ashamed for their handling of an incident involving our daughter this Friday night. A boy, roughly 10 years old, jumped on top of my daughter multiple times. He was completely oblivious to her body underneath his feet, my scream, or her crying and trying to get away from him.
SkyZone staff in orange sweatshirts who were supposedly making sure everyone was being safe, witnessed it and failed to jump in. Nope! The one closest to us actively chose to stay aloof and walk away. Another mom had to grab her attention and repeatedly tell her to come and help us before this attendant mozied on over.
When we told her what happened (though she was a witness) and asked for ice, the attendant called for back up. “Back up” also decided that a relaxed pace was good enough. The “Assistant Manager” was dismissive. She didn’t introduce herself but from information we gathered later, we believe her name was Meghan.
Instead of focusing on the fact that our daughter had been trampled on, Meghan was more interested in questioning why our daughter was even on the trampolines. Mind you, she has a wristband and orange socks that prove she has paid to be there. I literally saw Meghan write NOTHING on her incident report while she was standing in front of me. She said she was going to speak to the boy and check video footage to see what happened and would get back to me. A male attendant did go speak to the boy but the boy never came to apologize, nor did his unapologetic mom, who was sitting nearby watching us from the corner of her eye.
Assistant Manager Meghan was rather dismissive and simply walked away never to return with info about what she found on the video. There wasn’t a kind word said to us or any consoling words to our daughter. Not even a genuinely simple, “I’m so sorry this happened and that she got hurt.”
After some minutes, that boy returned to jump on the same trampoline that my daughter’s on again and I promptly told him to get the hell away from my daughter. Ironically, NOW the orange sweatshirt Attendant came rushing over to tell ME to not “disrespect” that boy. WHAT?!?! You bet I’m going to tell a kid that just trampled my daughter to not come anywhere near her again! Isn’t that what the Attendant should be doing too, making sure he is being safe and not jumping close to little kids he just hurt 10 minutes ago? It’s a large indoor park. He can jump on another trampoline, even a neighboring one, just not the one that the kid he just trampled is playing on.
After waiting around about 20 more minutes for the Assistant Manager to return with next steps, we decided to search for Meghan ourselves. We walked over to that supposed Attendant in the orange sweatshirt who promptly told us she didn’t know anything about an incident report or who we should follow up with.
So we talked to a gentleman in a blue tshirt by the party check in counters who immediately got Manager Beth out to talk to us. Lo and behold, the Assistant Manager never informed Manager Beth of the incident!!!! So poor Beth, who truly seemed concerned, had to go investigate what happened.
Ultimately, nothing came of the incident report (assuming one was ever filed). Beth’s irresponsible and dismissive female staff members (the Assistant Manager and the Attendant) did not apologize to us for their lack of sensitivity or follow through on that report, nor were they reprimanded for their cluelessness and unhelpful attitude.
To her credit, at our request, Beth tried to ask the mom and boy to speak with us personally. But the cowardly family didn’t.
The 20-something year olds that work at this establishment, under Beth’s management, most likely don’t have kids of their own so have no idea what it feels like to have your flesh and blood be hurt or trampled. May they have the opportunity to experience that one day so they live to regret their complete disregard for child safety, insensitive family support, and general “don’t give a fuck” attitude towards their work.
Beth, you need to hire more responsible and...
Read moreI do would like to share my experience. We just had a party yesterday for my granddaughter. She was turning seven I booked my Birthday packet with manager name Dan he promised two hours of great time and a party favor for the kids if I book a certain package he suggest do the party on Friday instead of Saturday it’s not as busy is on the weekend I booked from 6 to 8. We arrived to the sky zone of Vernon Hills 10 minutes prior to six. Hoping we will have a room to set it up by the time all the guest arrive but I was told we cannot put the food in the room. We cannot get in in the room till 10 minutes before seven and the manager was there. He didn’t even come up to me. The workers was trying to help. They was not any help the only person who really did her best was Isabel none of the room was set up First Floor second floor they all was filthy. None of them was prepared and even it’s no other party going on we couldn’t get in the room just because it’s New low which they come up recently and I would understand if it’s would be a busy day on the weekend and they had one party after another. We was the only party at that time and none of the room was set up for us. They said they will do it five minutes before seven. then they decide to put us on the second floor where is pretty loud? My disabled people couldn’t even go up. I asked them to put us downstairs on the first floor, which is available. But then we get into a huge argument. That’s not the room I booked the time was passing by at this point it was 7:05 and the room was still not clean by the time they decide to put me on the first floor was 715 all the food I ordered all the decoration I brought still in my bag finally at 7:15 we get in and start to set up the room. At the same time is they was cleaning the garbage and somebody else plates at that time I was hour and a half in the process of getting in the room my guest was tired wandering around so finally half of the decoration was not installed no time for that. The food was all cold and we start the party at 7:25 and that’s probably wouldn’t even happen if it wouldn’t be for the girl who was helping to set everything up her name was Isabella is I said before and I really appreciate her help. She was really trying her best to help me out. but she was the only one and we have to help her as well if we want to start the party After the party was over and I was checking out I noticed the party favors next to the booth, which I never received. Half of the guests are already left. The guy told me that was not included in my packet. . By that time, half of the kids was gone, and I was exhausted of arguing and fighting for what I already paid now it’s for you to decide what kind of experience I had With the sky zone at Vernon Hills and we are a member and all of the kids is a member and I mentioned to the manager when I was booking all the kids as a member so the only thing I’m looking for and paying for two hours of the room and he agree he understood that’s the case It’s a lot of different places available nearby me for the birthday party and the sky zone will not be on my list...
Read moreWe love skyline, have had multiple parties there. They have always been great. We were always told they had no more than 3 parties at 1 time, when we have had our parties. Apparently, that has changed. Yesterday, we went there for a party, There was no less than 1000 people there when we arrived. They had no socks left in our child's size- adult small, It took over 40 minutes for us to check in, We were at sky zone just before the party started. When the parents for the child had arrived earlier sky zone, there was no sign and it appeared they did not remember the kid whose party we were there for. Sky zone had at least 8+ other parties going on at the same time. Lockers were unlocked no room or places for kids presents, shoes, coats etc, After having all the kids come up and wash all the huge groups hands, they stated they forgot to make the pizzas. The party planner, sent the kids back down to jump for 20 minutes only to have all the parents have to find every kid as not all kids have parents there 20 minutes later. There is no announcement etc, the music is crazy loud. The kid "helping" out at the party told the few parents trying to find kids from our party room at exactly 6:45 . EVERYONE OUT THE PARTY ENDED A MINUTE AGO LEAVE. When told you ran late and did not have pizzas for 20 minutes. Kid, whose name I know, but is a product of a poorly managed facility and not trained properly said . Well we have another party , you HAVE to get out NOW. Could have been handled much better, but their comment to the hosting parents. Well, you got the pizzas free?! To top it off My daughter had a group of middle school boys who were bothering her and kept jumping, staring and eventually hit her in the head. When I went to talk to the manager, he stated he would talk to the teen party planner from the party. SERIOUSLY, you cannot get us ice, apologize etc. I am not demanding or expecting anything , clearly, we sign that all away with a waiver, but a bag of ice would have been nice . We eventually went to the cafe, where apparently this happens so much that the person behind there simply said ice and out they came with a ziplock bag of ice. Unbelievable dangerous. Please do not drop off your kids and think they are safe at a party here. This is not the same sky zone it was when they first opened or even a year ago. The kids coming here are undisciplined, have zero parental or staff supervision and it is a free for all zoo. I hope this was an odd ball event. I truly do. In times past the staff called kids off and out who were hurting others. So sad to see this...
