My family and I are huge fans of BB.Q chicken at the Arlington Heights, we go almost every week when I am in town. We decided to order at this particular location since it was closer to us. Today, was the second time ordering carry-out from this location. Two men were were up front, did not even acknowledge me when I entered. I politely said hello, no response back. One of the workers pointed WITHOUT saying anything to the chip reader, signing to put my card. As I was leaving, I said bye thank you, with no response again. They were both Korean, but I knew that they spoke English very well, since I called to place the order in English. I got home to my family and opened the boxes of chicken, which by the way, costed $54 and some change. It was not the typical amount of chicken that we receive at Arlington Heights. Their menu and receipt advertises the large wings to be a 24 count and size small to be 8 count. We counted, out of curiosity, and it was short 4. My dad decided to call the location as we know that both my dad and the owner is fluent in Korean. My dad called with the intention of just receiving an apology, as we plan to go back there again. A man picked up the call and as my dad proceeded to tell him the issues with our order, the worker talked back, claiming that he was the one that counted and it is on our end for counting incorrectly. My dad was stunned by his ignorance and he asked for the owner. Turns out the owner was the impeccably rude person on the phone. My dad continued to assure him that this wasn’t for free chicken or a refund, but only to ensure that the location does not miscount on others or our future orders. The owner did not have more to say so the phone call ended. It’s unfortunate to see such poor customer service, whether it’s over the phone or in person. The food is great, but the service is very poor, I would recommend going to the Arlington Heights— the workers there are...
Read moreHad Korean fried chicken ordered through GrubHub, and you know that feeling of how expensive food delivery can be coupled with the rising food prices. Much of the appeal I got from trying this place out how "perfect" the food looks, followed by the perfect bite, and the a feeling of wishing for more. It's a very high bar.
My expectations were not quite met here, but the following statement could not be more grounded, "Sir/Madam, this is no more than a fast food place". While I was able to get past my unfamiliarity with high prices for food, this is what I would recommend for first timers (since I felt like I got burned a bit).
When getting fried chicken, their boneless variant is a dollar cheaper. Get the flavor you think you're most familiar with. My favorite so far is the Honey Garlic. There's an option for the original and secret spicy chicken, but the original seems subpar. You probably could mix (like Frank's red hot or Cholula) with the original, but I'd rather grab a different flavor altogether.
I also had their Rose Tteokbokki which is a a heavy, sweet & spicy cheesy sauce featuring rice cake, fish cake, cabbage, and a sliced hard-boiled egg. Their spice level is on-point, which is to say that you'll need some water to quench the spice down. If you've had Buldak sauce, which is the sauce in any Samyang Challenge noodle package, you'll know what I mean. Definitely not as spicy as them, though.
In watching the people who can down this, (in addition to the other add-ons in their mukbang) I salute to you. An order of this will feel like a double serving. Unexpectedly, the chicken was also still around, so perhaps the price to portion ratio isn't that appalling.
It's decent. Just make sure to drive over instead of getting food delivery, as those prices can easily drive...
Read moreI really wanted to like the place but I just can’t. I ordered 8 piece secret spicy boneless chicken, fries and a can of coke, it was around $20. Ok a bit pricey but that’s ok, I will pay more for the quality food, I was wrong.
First off all the gentlemen at the register in blue jacket had zero customer service skills, he looked bothered that I came in, no hello no thank you, nothing.
After waiting for about 10 minutes, I received my food and was very excited for it. I couldn’t wait and while driving I started eating the French fries. Holy s$&@ lol I wasn’t sure if the ocean had more salt in it or the fries. I pulled out few and they had salt all over on them, like if someone accidentally dropped the salter in them. They looked very promising and were cooked really well but salt killed it, I only ate 1/4 of them, blowing off salt out of them.
Now onto the chicken. Well I didn’t even try it. I actually got rid of them. I was scared to try, after getting “don’t care to be here attitude “ and super salty fries that I didn’t even wanted to take the risk.
So I spend $20 on actually $3 that I ate. I give 2 stars not 1 only because for the clean appearance of the restaurant and for the freshness of the food. Will update this review if they improve, I will give them...
