Went to see starwars the last Jedi on opening weekend, Saturday December 16th around 6 pm, used my $5 off Google guide discount. The new reclining seats with raising foot rests were a nice touch, especially since I inadvertantly got tickets very close to the screen because I hadn't been to the remodeled theater. The bathrooms and theater were clean. As previous people have said, those lights are annoying distraction. Yeah what was wrong with red exit signs like they used to have? The military flashlights have red filters you can apply for a reason, the light doesn't stand out so much! Though that's mostly for long range. The employees were pleasant to interact with. They helped me straighten out my seating situation. Now I have made a point to avoid this theater like the plague just because of the high prices! When we were younger the process were better compared to peoples income and we went here often! All my friends feel the same. We carpool for the 45 minute drive to Athens, OH. It has bigger screens and had the stadium seating before regal here. Movie tickets for $5 normal and be $8 for 3d instead of $14 at regal. Inexpensive snacks, popcorn, be and sodas. You get to butter your own popcorn!! Go a little farther and right before Nelsonville you'll see movies 14 which also has great prices on movie tickets and cheap popcorn and soda. Great for families with the big arcade there too with food made to order including pizzas without breaking the bank! I've always said Regal here would do SO MUCH BETTER with lower prices like the competition. Yeah on an individual level high prices they make more per person but fewer customers. With lower prices they'd get so many more customers!! Making more profit by amount of more people paying and coming back more often! When I worked at Blockbuster video many years ago I kept saying the same thing.. but no, they charged too much, got higher and higher, lost a lot of regular customers. Redbox just put the nail in the coffin. I wish I could make family outings every weekend to Regal cinemas, until the corporation overhauls pricing out won't...
Read moreRegal Cinemas Grand Central Mall is much better now since they completely overhauled reach theater. The floors aren't as sticky from spilled soda as they used to be. One of the only issues that I have is the god awful bright lighting in each theater. They do not dim them during the movie. I have attached a photo from one of the larger theaters taken just after a movie ended. As you can see, the green exit signs are very bright. No one can possibly miss where the door is now. Green and blue are very harsh colors with high glare effects. Red is a much better color in a dark theater, but it would be SOOO much better. There is an exit sign in the front directly next to the screen facing the audience and one in the back. These green lights, along with the floor down lighting, make it difficult to focus on the movie, especially if you are sensitive to glare. In the smaller theater tonight, I tried to hold up a card to block the light from the exit sign, but the lights from the back of the theater shone off of the back of the card. I couldn't win.
On a good note, the seats are fairly comfortable and do not squeak. If you are on the short side, you might want to bring something to make the seat more comfortable to recline in. They are made for taller people in mind, like my husband, who loves them. Also, the sound is quite good and the bathrooms are usually clean. The employees are very helpful and the management is quick to check out an issue when it is brought to...
Read moreMy only complaint about the theater I have is that they don't serve jalapenos to go with your nachos. Coming from Texas this was a regular thing that was just expected. Everything else though is great! The place is clean, the seats are comfortable, and the food is good.
I do however have a complaint about some of the people who attend the theater. On more than one occasion, there have been instances where customers have sat in the assigned seats I bought before arriving to the place for the family. While this great technology to finally allow families to sit near each other in a theater is great, It appears that the technology hasn't caught up to the people here, because they just can't rap around their heads that someone could have rented a seat they are sitting in? Telling someone they are in your seat is always an awkward conversation to have.
As for the low rating of the theater, there was a remodel recently which improved everything a ton! New seats and it doesn’t stink like what was mentioned earlier.
I can understand that not getting a 100% satisfactional visit can be frustrating, but one should have realistic expectations when going to a movie theater in West by god Virginia. You aren't going to be getting a 5 star meal, foot massage, and butler to abide by all your commands, you will be getting an average visit with popcorn, minimum wage employees, and if your lucky a 3D...
