NEVER RETURNING!! Tonight my wife and I had the worst movie experience since ... forever! NO ONE SHOULD BE FORCED TO SUFFER IN THE HEAT DURING A MOVIE THEY PAID TO SEE!! I don't remember ever leaving a movie theater mad because of the poor conditions... congratulations AMC!
We came to see Dune 2 (Five stars for the movie) in IMAX. As soon as we entered we knew it was too hot, but assumed that the air condition would be turned up soon. It never did. By the time the movie started (there were 20 minutes of trailers) the row in front of us started fanning themselves off to get cool. The lady in front of my wife stripped down to her tank top (it was in the mid 50s outside). I was so uncomfortable with the heat I finally left to talk with a manager, which never happened. The associate told me that they knew about the problem (which is why the manager did not come) but it was because of all the people making it to hot and theater needed more time to cool off. Next time I should go to a smaller theater if a wanted to be comfortable.... I'm sorry... WHAT?!
First of all, you are being cheap! Turn up the air conditioning so your patrons can enjoy themselves. Everyone there was sitting and watching the movie. It was not some nightclub where everyone was dancing around and generating heat. And there was a 30 minute gap when the theater was getting cleaned before we walked in. If it really needed to "cool off", there would have been some difference in the temperature between the time we walk in and the duration of the movie. It was hot the moment we walked in.
I don't like being lied to. I would have been fine if I was told, "sorry the A/C is busted. We have a technician coming Monday..." or even "It's too expensive to cool down the IMAX and our budget won't allow it," or something reasonable. But instead I get a response that was just insulting.
The IMAX tickets were about $19 each plus concessions.... we spent just shy of $100 which is fine if we enjoy ourselves. WE DID NOT. We were so angry we didn't even want to use the restrooms there. Read moreI would like to say that every time that I step into the atmosphere of AMC Lynnhaven, I feel like a weight has lifted of my shoulders from the cares of life. This world is experiencing alot of turmoil what better place to go and spend time with friends, get great service, and get some of the best food by great hospitality staff, family etc. Please take the time to show your employees appreciation for all their efforts that it takes to show hospitality, serve food, fix problems etc. While being entertained and experiencing the greatest movies that you, your family, love ones, and friends came to enjoy. Please again customers of the Amc theater Lynnhaven, please take the time to show the managers, staff, servers your dearest appreciation. Special thanks goes out to Dontae and Athena (Management) for always taking the time to make sure myself, family, friends, my mental health patient etc. Is taken care of. Both managers always go above and beyond to help their staff by making sure the customers come first in every aspect of fulfilling the needs of the customers. If people take the time to point out the good instead of complaining and giving people who deserves great reviews, this world will be in a better place. Just remember we all need encouragement to help keep our jobs especially when we're trying and performing our best. Both managers keep up the great work. AMC theater Lynnhaven has shown great teamwwork by the leadership of both managers mentioned above. Please let them feel valued and appreciated because everyone that claims to be qualified to hold a certain position isn't qualified or capable of doing their job correctly. Read moreI've been coming to this location since moving to Norfolk a couple years ago as it is the closest AMC to Norfolk. It's pretty clean, the seats are still comfortable, and the theaters themselves are pretty well maintained. Of note, I do think it's time for some maintenance on their screens, speakers, and projectors throughout all theaters, but specifically the Dolby theaters. I was in theater 10 (the Dolby one on the right side when entering), and the sound cut out and back in a few times during previews and once during the movie. Overall, the sound quality was not what I would normally expect for a Dolby theater which prides itself on the sound and picture quality. People seated in the back agreed and noted that the back speakers weren't working or weren't calibrated correctly. Something else is that this location does have a Macguffins, but it wasn't even open on a Saturday night. Not sure if they didn't have staff to run it the particular night I was there but a little odd. Overall the staff at this location is incredibly hard working and go above and beyond. Bartenders at Macguffins are friendly and complimentary, concessions staff are on the ball (but notably understaffed), and Athena in particular is a bright spot at this location. I think I had someone new on box office the evening I was there, and I don't think it was her fault, but maybe training needs to be taken up a notch as the box office attendee called 3 different groups of people from the regular line before calling anyone from the Stubs line. Not to be 'that person,' but cutting the line is a really nice perk. Anyways, I only ever get tickets printed since I receive waived online order fees and they removed the outdoor kiosks.
