First off this place is very overpriced, pushes everyone to have their eye dilated, and doesn’t hold doctors accountable for checking prescriptions that techs take with the machines. My first visit- The techs brings me over to the machine, that’s fine. That is up until she tells me I have to have my eyes dilated for the doctor which I tell her isn’t true. A young healthy individual without diabetes and no reason for concern should not be REQUIRED to have their eyes dilated. It’s just a scam to charge more money for eye exams. The contact lens girl brings me over, promises to get a few brands for me to try because of my weird prescription. Which was a lie she only ordered one. It took 2 long weeks to come in, and it was incorrect. (Shocker) Also, the brand had already been deemed as a bad one that rips a lot by the tech herself, great suggestion. I walk into the eye exam room to see the doctor, contact tech tells me if I get my eyes dilated wouldn’t hurt to make sure I have the correct prescription, I’m like whatever okay. My eyes dilated for 30 mins, doctor comes and sees me for like 2 minutes and tell me my eye health is good and asks me if I have any questions. I ask her had I not got my eyes dilated what is it she was planning to do because she never checked my prescription? She replies she will check it with my contact lens fitting. MORE FUN FACTS- The individuals at the front are rude, and snarky. The first five minutes of my first visit the girl at the front tried telling me my insurance doesn’t cover eye exams, which I told her is incorrect and it takes her about 20 minutes to figure out she was wrong. The girl who checked me out talk me a fitting was $125 dollars and my insurance doesn’t find it necessary, which is fine but isn’t that something you should mention beforehand so I would have had the option to say no? The initial appointment was about 2 and a half hours. The fitting was about 1 and a half. Also, the “doctor” that never checked my prescription somehow signed off on it, and when the other doctor corrected the contact lens prescription the other was never updated. Funny how that works! Also, if you would like your PD that’s an extra $25. I was told I couldn’t get my prescription until my fitting. The optical girl immediately got an attitude when I inquired about my PD with my prescription. Like I’m sorry are you not charging my insurance almost $500 dollars for an eye exam? Why is it that you need to charge another $25, is it because I don’t want glasses from you? Ridiculous. To top it all of now I’ll be waiting about a month to get contact lenses that may or may not be correct, with a prescription that has not been checked for accuracy even up...
Read moreMy husband has been a patient for years at Beach Eye Care. Because of his occupation as an auto body/car restorer he has emergency needs occasionally. Grinding metal with safety goggles does not always mean100% protection. Today was one of those days when I called to see if there were any openings to check his eye. There was. Dr. Barker was able to take care of the emergency carefully, quickly, and thoroughly and we are greatful! The staff is exceptional from the initial phone call to check out.
I too am a patient of Beach Eye Care. Summer Sayers, OD is the optometrist I started seeing. I feel comfortable seeing Dr. Sayers. She is kind and gentle. I have been impressed by her thoroughness. A few months ago she saw me after an accident that left my eye completely bruised and I wanted to make sure there was not any real damage to the eye itself. Dr. Sayers was compassionate and caring. I appreciate her as a caregiver. The accident cause delays in going in for the yearly eye exam. After recovering from the accident, I went to Dr. Sayers this week for a much needed and delayed yearly exam and knowing my eyes have changed I needed a new prescription for lens. Thank you to Dr. Sayers for being so thorough! I am equally impressed with Wendy. She is the one I saw who fitted me with new frames. What a great experience!! Wendy obviously does fittings for a living. She is honest and gives the patient a chance to try on frames. She chose several different colors and styles after asking what i had hope to find. After choosing several pairs for me, and my trying them on, she handed me the perfect frames. She has a good eye. 🙂 She reviewed the options, and talked about price etc. I feel good about the decision I made as Wendy did a good job educating me. Overall I am more than 100% Satisfied with our many visits to Beach Eye Care. From the moment of walking in to checking out, everyone is professional and courteous!

Read moreWe've been going to Beach Eye Care for a few years. Dr Sayers is always fantastic. I had a fall that caused a lot of problems. She referred me to a Retina doctor and then I came back to Beach Eye Care because this one Cataract developed rapidly after the injury. I had many appointments after my fall. One of the gals that did the pre-check is Ty. I felt comfortable with her. Thanks, Ty. Because Cataract surgery was a bit intimidating, I wanted to make sure I did what I needed to do. I researched and chose the new lens that Medicare pays for. Dr Baker was the surgeon I chose for this procedure. And Dr. Sayer confirmed. Dr Baker was very informative about what to expect and gave me options. As far as the surgery, he did an awesome job. He was very honest, caring, and again informed me of all that I needed to do to prevent the surgery from failing. I can cheerfully say I have had no problems at all. Thank you, Dr. Baker and the entire staff.
As far as after cataract surgery care? Well, my eye is so greatly improved that I need new glasses yesterday, last week. But I was advised to wait a month for healing and to get an accurate and true prescription. That's when Wendy comes in. I love having Wendy fit me for glasses. She has before and did the same wonderful and awesome job this time. I ask Wendy to choose glasses she thinks I would like and enjoy. I appreciate her honesty and the care she takes to ensure the patient gets what they need and can afford. That means a lot because I do not have vision insurance. Wendy is honest, caring, and fun. She makes the visits a pleasure. Thank you Wendy!!!! I cannot wait until my new glasses and sunglasses come in!!!
