This is a tremendous place to bring the kiddos to play, interact, and make friends. Absolutely beautiful, with many ways to make memories while letting those young minds flourish with imagination and laughter. Let the kids be kids and play!

Had a great time with the kiddos. They have restrooms on site and the playground is full of stuff to do for all age groups. Picnic shelters are near by for rental/events.

LOVE this place and everything about it. Our autistic Granddaughter loves it and is able to fall without hurting herself. Thank you City of Virginia Beach.

Kids Cove Playground I at Mount Trashmore Park in Virginia Beach is a vibrant and well-designed play space that truly makes the most of its unique setting. It's a fantastic spot for families with younger children, earning it a solid four-star rating. The first thing you'll notice is the sheer scale and variety of the play structures. With its rubberized surfacing, parents can breathe a little easier knowing falls are cushioned. The playground features a multitude of slides, climbing areas, elevated walkways, and even some unique net structures that provide engaging challenges for a range of ages. The inclusion of swings for all ages, including a one-of-a-kind wheelchair swing, speaks to the park's commitment to accessibility, which is a huge plus for inclusive play. The design is clearly aimed at sparking imagination and encouraging active play. Kids can spend hours exploring the different zones, from the more traditional climbing structures to the newer additions like hillside slides and integrated musical instruments. The connection to the larger Mount Trashmore Park means families can easily transition from playground fun to a stroll around the lake or a climb up the mountain, making for a full day of outdoor activity. Ample benches and picnic shelters are strategically placed throughout the playground area, allowing parents to relax while keeping a watchful eye on their little ones. While Kids Cove Playground I offers a fantastic experience, there are a couple of points that keep it from a perfect five stars. The most significant is the lack of natural shade in many areas. On sunny Virginia Beach days, especially during the warmer months, the play equipment can get quite hot, and finding a cool spot to rest can be a challenge. While some newer additions have tried to incorporate elements, more comprehensive shade solutions would greatly enhance the comfort of both children and guardians. Additionally, while the playground caters wonderfully to younger children, older kids (say, 8+) might find some of the structures less challenging or exciting after a while, though the broader park still offers plenty for them. Despite these minor considerations, Kids Cove Playground I is an excellent asset to Virginia Beach. Its thoughtful design, variety of play options, and commitment to accessibility make it a highly recommended destination for families looking for a fun and engaging outdoor experience. Just remember to pack sunscreen and possibly hats on...

Ok, you’re probably wondering WHY I’d give this AMAZING playground only 3 stars…? The place is HUGE! Everyone there is great. It’s a safe place. So, my beef with this place is that it is EXTREMELY difficult to be a single parent here with two kids under the age of 5. I’m like 95% of the military moms in VB—I have young kids and my active duty husband is never around so that means we go to the playground with just me managing the kids. The playground is SO HUGE that I lost one of my kids multiple times and spent the entire time there in heart attack mode because I couldn’t find one or the other. There is no spot that is particularly elevated for you to get an overview of the play area to spot both kids if you’ve got more than one. Also, there’s no fence or “one entry” area so if your kid bolts…good luck finding them because it’s all open all the way around. There’s two different parking lots with cars flying in and out where your kid could get into trouble (yyyyyup, my two year old was almost hit with me chasing them at full speed) and there’s also the massive hill of Trashmore that they could randomly decide to climb. IF you’ve only got one kid, OR you’re lucky to have more than yourself going with multiple kids—then this place is 5 stars all the way. OR…if you’re in freakishly good shape and can chase children nonstop for an hour, be my guest. The place is just too big for us but it’s paradise for...

So my kid refers to this park as the "weekend park". Obviously we only go the on the weekends lol, but he looks forward to it every single time. It's a great place, nice and spacious also. There's shelters and plenty of places to sit, lots of children and no drama ever. I do miss the old wooden fortress looking playground...but out with the old, in with the new, right?! While he is playing on the playground, me and and my better half usually set up a little picnic area and play Pokemon Go, plenty of gyms, stops and pokemon. My only recommendation and advice, bring a jacket....it's like it's located right in the middle of a breeze way, even on a warm day (not including summer)!! Trust me on that one, we...
